Problems with PCMCIA and CF card 2GB

I have read some threads here but still I have issues with my CF card.

I have downloaded cfd.lha and copied over the compactflash.device to DEVS: and tried mounting the drive by double clicking the CF0 icon but nothing happens.

Am I missing something?

Was told on this forum that the setup I bought would work ok, not blaming anyone

Regards

Volt.

Hi VoltureX, your 2GB card should work fine, I have used several 2GB and 4GB cards in my PCMCIA adapter. I tried a 8GB Kingston and it won't work no matter how it's formatted, but it works in a USB card reader plugged into the Subway in the A1200, so I guess it's a hardware limitation of the adapter and not the OS.

The reason your card isn't showing up is because you also need to install a compatible filesystem. Download and install Fat95 and then your card should work, provided you also installed cfd properly (compactflash.device in Devs/ and CF0 in Devs/DOSDrivers/

Do I only need to copy the file fat95 to L: or do I need other files from fat95.lha placed somewhere also?

Yes place fat95 into the L dir.

On my A600, the card takes a while to show up after mounting CF0:.

My CF card reader still doesn't work. I have even tried both FAT and FAT32.

Any suggestions?

Regards

Volt.

I know my PCMCIA port is working coz I use it for my network aswell.

When I load up CLI and type CF0: it says "Bad loadfile hunk".

Does the CF card show up under Windows? (it should)

What happens if you type "mount cf0:" at a shell prompt instead of double clicking the icon? (there may be some error messages)

It shows up fine in Windows and if I type "mount CF0:" it just mounts. If I type the same command again it tells me it's already mounted.

Sorry not sure what the error message "Bad loadfile hunk" might mean in this context.

Are you sure your CF0 file and DEVS:compactflash.device and L:fat95 are all not corrupt? Those 3 files are all you need and you seem to have installed them fine.

I guess you do not have another CF card you can also try? (not all CF card and PCMCIA-CF adapter combos seem to work)

What make of card do you have?

As Cammy mentioned, not all cards work.

I have a Trascend x133 2GB CF card and a Delock adapter.

Volt.

Update:

Got the hardware to work. It was corrupted files. I think it was the Fat95. Thanks though for everything
