very nice video of one my favorite arcade game of my childhood.
Oh and strangely you've not mention the excellent Shinobi by Sega who is for me an improved version of Rolling Thunder.

Thanks for your continued hard work.

If you're ever looking for something new to research how about Escape from the Planet of the Robot Monsters I loved the game on the Amstrad (such time care and love went into this port) and Amiga so I bought a dedicated arcade machine.

I did mention it but only briefly. Shinobi was released six months after rolling thunder so it's possible it was merely a coincidence that the gameplay was so similar

Download doesn't seem to work, but I think a whole new port of Rolling Thunder might be needed. What was released is ghastly in every way, even for such an early release. It never seems to end up on lists of the worst Arcade > Amiga conversions, but for me its as pathetic as almost any, considering that they didn't even implement the gameplay properly, and the arcade original is hardly technically demanding in a way OutRun or Power Drift were.

yeah its 1 of those contenders for "modern remake" which looks like its needed badly rather than fixing up the original.

The animations on this game are so well done, that I always wondered if some rotoscopy of the real characters was used to draw the frames.
Same as with Another World, and Flashback.

In June 1988 the Amiga conversion earned the title 'conversion flop of the month' in the German ASM magazine:

Little do they know that more appropriate title would be: "Conversion flop of the decade".

I remember, reading somewhere (probably on this forum) where coders discussed how Tiertex actually managed to achieve that slow of a speed, because even on an very unoptimized code, it should run faster.

Has anyone from tiertex actually spoken about this conversion?

I would love to hear what the programmers had to say.
