Genetic Species
*** all posts here were moved from the Gloom Deluxe thread ***
Speaking of Amiga fps, I think Genetic Species have higher system requirements (not to mention Alien Breed 3D 2 !). I just installed the emulated AHI drivers, and after a some tweaking in WInUAE, I hear the buffy ingame sounds. Hires would be something more like obtaining 640x480 in this game, inmho. Try it if you can ! GS can be found on Aminet, but I have repacked it. Does someone knows a place where I can upload it, it's a whoopy 300MB ? The install is also on the cracked version on planetemu. So a installable version is easy to access. Do you have any problems with the installed version so far?
Uploading 300MB means to use a filesharing host or run a FTP server. You say you repacked it, but what's the difference to the version on aminet? Maybe you could ask someone with a big webspace here to host your file. |

The Aminet version of GS was a bit messy. I cleaned it up and archived it more consistently. Plus, I added a .nfo with some bs, in the good old release tradition.
Big webspaces are not common these days, especially for hosting trite Amiga files. May be we can discuss that matter on ICQ. Thanks to both of you. Genetic Species is an interesting game for pushing WinUAE to its limits as it doesn't rely solely on AGA. Some of you might be aware I ripped the gorgeous intro, check it out here : http://fr.video.yahoo.com/watch/2295119/7204070 Last edited by NewDeli; 11 July 2008 at 10:41. |

Thanks for the link to the intro Deleauvive!
I wish I could help with hosting GS, but I have only a webspace that allows 10MB parts. So I think 30 parts would be a bit too much. Maybe someone can give you access to his FTP and then we could download it from there. |

If I may say so, it's not just a link ! The intro was ripped at a time I was still hesitant on the optimal WinUAE settings to choose for acquiring videos.
And synching the audio, realtime ? Boy, forget it ! The process literally puts my aging Athlon 64 box on its knees. May be v1.5 will bring some awaited changes, for that matter. I am currently uploading GS on a Amiga nice freak's FTP, who happen to be French. Of course, the privately owned FTP has a tiny upload bandwidth, so don't expect too much. People interested in downloading the repacked game are welcomed to contact me via ICQ or pm. Not to minimize Marble Eyes efforts, I should say this game, while being a pretty cool, unseen on Windows comps', 3D shooter, did not revolutionize the genre. |

Thank you for your effort on recording the intro Deleauvive (sorry if it sounded like I haven't appreciated your work on it)
And again thanks for uploading your version to a FTP. I'll send you a PM now |

Genetic Species full version is now available on my web site.
It's a "rar'd" repack I've done, since the people at Aminet seem to have trouble making consistent archives. Not much is included with the game itself, except for the AHI driver and a few cheat codes. (Am I being nice to you ?) Get it while it's hot ! http://www.netcomet.info/download.php (Use a download manager if you can) |
