Problems restoring from Quarterback?

Hey AmigaWizards...

I'm still trying to rescue the file from my 'dead' A2000, and I have many numbered floppy backups which I'm pretty sure were made with 'Quarterback' long ago...

Since I still have a working A1200 with QB 2 on it, I tried loading the floppies but got the error message 'these are not valid Quarterback disks' or something. Don't think it was just a bad floppy, coz I got that message with several different attempts.

Does anyone have any ideas on what my next step might be to restoring from this alleged 'QB' backup of floppies? I tried to convert them to ADF's, but I guess they're in a non standard format, and ADFBlitzer gave up pretty quickly.

Any pointers or ideas will be appreciated.

Beware quarterback is only FFS compatible not sfs or pfs3!

Next you need the correct version of QB to restore your archive.

QBTools, the disk repair program is the component which is only FFS compatible. The backup software itself doesn't care what filesystem your files are on.

I had a bad surprise. Hence my warning. Quarterback is only FFS. Use it on PFS3 partition, and you will regret it.

Thanks for the replies... Sorry to be a dimwit but I have no clue what 'FFS' or 'PFS3' means. I gather they're different file systems...

I downloaded some other versions of QB from Turran FTP yesterday, wondering if it's the version number that's the cause of the problem.

OR, on the old Amiga Syquest disk I recently revived, there was a different backup app called 'HD Backup' or something. Maybe it's possible I used THAT to create these floppies?

Is there any way to analyze one of the numbered floppies and get some clues about its origin or what app created it?

Meanwhile I'm still trying to revive the old internal SCSI drive from my dead A2000... But I have a hunch that's gonna be a dead end. Plugged it into an external chassis today and the little LED flashed RED briefly every time the power was turned on. Ah the joys of retro computing.

Nah, without any more elaboration this is just an anecdote. I am yet to regret using it on a PFS3 partition, but please elaborate what the identified problem is?

Great. And by 'image', I guess you mean I can use ADFBlitzer to create an ADF of the disk and upload it here? Thanks.

Yes =) I must say that VotarGuys post reminded me to release this (small) tool finally.
Not sure if it helps in your case, but once you got adf's you can try it out

Simple : when you unroll a QB archive on a PFS3 partition, you corrupt it.

this is how QB operates.

What kind of corruption should I be looking for? Which version of QB were you using? How did you detect the corruption?

i can be totally wrong, but seems the op is in a similar stuck situation i had a couple of months ago, attempting to extract ok not 2.x but 5.x archive :

https://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=113541

what imo generates misureunderstandings is the fact that first you need to select the destination, and next the packed archives, the opposite of what it seems imo
