Bard's Tale serie animated pictures & tool

Hey all,

Here's my present to the EAB community for christmas .
Warning, spoiler inside.

I've updated my website with the tool "Bard's Tale Picture Viewer" allowing you to browse the animated pictures of the Bard's Tale serie (Bard's Tale I, II, III and the Construction Set) :



Supported systems are Amiga (of course), Atari and PC (VGA).

You can download the viewer with its C# source code there :

You'll find 4 other pages, containing the animated pictures (in Gif format) for each Bard's Tale version.
Be aware, it's images heavy.

Note that the original pictures can only be correctly viewed with the aforementioned tool because they are made of many animation parts, each animated separately. The gifs do not show the complete cycle of the animation.

The exception is Bard's Tale III for which the animations are only 4 frames.

Technical notes :
- Each Bard's tale version (I, II, II, BTCS) on each system (Atari, Amiga, PC) uses different graphics compression (and encryption) schemes (totaling 6 different algorithms).
- The Amiga Bard's Tale Construction Set uses the Extra Half-Brite mode.

Really nice thanks, just a question is the Apple IIGS version compatible with this viewer?

Not actually.

It seems the Apple IIGS graphics are strictly the same as the Amiga version (for Bard's Tale II at least).
