Idiot guide to making WHDLoad installs?

I read the docs at the whdload site and did some google search..but I'm still having problems figuring out how to, for example, make a slave file.

Is there a step by step guide on how to do this, like, for total beginners?

I would like to convert my cannon fodder to WHDload as I have my savegames on the floppy..but have no idea how.

Thanks.

There are no beginner's guide to making slaves as it is not a beginners job. You need to be very good at machine code/assembly, understand copy protections etc., so you basically need to be a cracker to be able to make a working slave.

Do like the rest of us, download the slaves from http://www.whdload.de/ to install using your original game disks or the finished installs from http://whdownload.com/.

As Galahad replied in your other thread, he would take at look at making it possible to install an original save disk as well.

I actually downloaded the CF slave but it's a whole game, it didn't ask me to insert my CF floppies, it installed the whole package. From the same site I downloaded Toki install and it asked me to insert a game disk..Maybe I'm missing something here..

On the whdload.de page there's no full games. The Cannon Fodder file is 10579 bytes, so it can't include the game disks. But it doesn't currently support installing the original save disk, so for the time being you have to start from the beginning.

I can but I don't know which software to use to make a diskimage of my save disk.

@demolition, no way Jose..I'm not starting CF from scratch, would rather play it from the floppy instead.

Slave needs an update to support imaging the save disks, you can't (easily) make in image of them yourself as they use a custom MFM format.

Unfortunately that's what you have to do for the time being until Galahad hopefully finds out a way to include the save disk in the installer. Alternatively maybe you can find someone who has a WHDLoad save game at the same mission that they can send to you. It won't be exactly the same, but maybe good enough.

if the savedisk uses the same format as the game the islave from Cannon Fodder Plus can probably used with minimal adaption to rip the files from the save disk
