Rgb to scart cable diy

I'm making my own rgb to scart cable following the schematic from the following site.

http://www.ianstedman.co.uk/Amiga/am...iga_scart.html

Stupid question though. Is the schematic showing the pins on the amiga or on the cable? For example pin 1 on the schematic is top right but on the amiga is it not actually top left? As in looking at the rear of the machine.

Pins are numbered on the face of most D connectors,
and for SCART, the shape of the plug makes it obvious.

Yep, pin numbers are moulded into the face of D-sub connectors, as well as beside each solder point on the rear. You may need good light and magnification to see them. That diagram looks like pin 1 is looking into the face of the connector on the cable, so pin 1 would be the top left when looking into the back of the Amiga. This image should help you - all sizes of D-sub connector have the same numbering scheme, so pin 1 is always in the same place on female connectors (and always the opposite on male connectors).

Thanks gents. I can only handily get 25 pin D-subs so I will be cutting it down to suit and I wasn't sure if they would be labelled different than the 23 pin D-sub hence why I wanted to confirm against the pins on the back of the Amiga.

Well, for cutting down, if you chop the end off with pins 13 & 25, pin 1 will still be pin 1. Of course, you'll need to subtract 1 from the numbers on the bottom row, but the numbering on that row will be wrong regardless of which end you cut down.

have you tried ebay?

what I did was buy a really cheap video adapter for the Amiga and un-solder the connector, was about 8 quid or something, then I also had the case to and was making a scart plug adaptor so it would take standard scart
