Scart to Hdmi

Can someone please help me choose a good Scart to Hdmi converter for my CDTV.

I've been looking on ebay for over an hour and all I'm getting is conflicting information.
I did find a useful old thread but most of the links are dead.

Please help.

A friend of mine used one very similar to this (I think Lindy brand) but looks identical and it worked very well:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/392970791544

Just be careful on eBay some adverts are not labelled correctly and are HDMI to SCART rather than the other way round.

There is also these:

The last one on your list states: Scart CVBS input.
Is that the same (or similar) as RGB?

I bought SCART to HDMI from eBay and it doesn't work with Amiga, because it doesn't support the RGB connections of the SCART. I bought this one - [ Show youtube player ]

It is cheap, but also it does deinterlacing, which makes some strange artefacts.

The last one I posted is similar to the YouTube video linked. I suppose many variants are available. CVBS is composite video. I assumed that device supported RGB.

@Arnie the one I posted first which my friend had success with is the same as the one confirmed to work by fellow 2 users. Seems like it's the one to go for

I second that lesta_smsc advised. In fact, the blue cardboard box is exactly the same as the one I got mine in. Same square shape, and excellent product for 20/30 euro (of course the image isn't perfect, but if you want a perfect image you have to spend 300 euro+ in a pro converter so...

And scandoublers add a "comb" artefact anyway.

@ jotd

It says it comes with a power adapter but there's no picture of it.
Does anyone know if the adapter is 2 pin Europe or 3 pin UK, or a usb lead for a phone charger?

EDIT:
This is the one I'm looking at;

It's a 5V USB with a non-USB jack (it's the same jack as some other converter I had, a DC jack like in vintage appliances/music keyboards/or laptops)

Also states this in ad:

"Package Included:
SCART and HDMI to HDMI Converter x1
USB Power Cable x1
User Manual x1"

There are many variations on that pretty much identical device (which, I believe, came about as a clone of a much more expensive device a few years ago). Some come with mains adaptors, some with USB adaptors, all use the same shell and the same standard DC jack.

Damn, I really wanted one with an adapter. (I don't have a spare phone charger) I'll keep looking.

Yeah I made the mistake of getting the exact one, and importing it from America lol.

There were loads that looked similar, should have taken a punt on them

One last question before I put this to bed.
Can I use the Usb ports on the TV to power the Scart to HDMI device?

It depends on the TV, but usually they provide plenty of power for things like this. Chromecasts, for example...

Most devices run off 500mA but some require 1A - not sure what power input is needed by adaptor.

You have 2 options:

1) Check to see if your TV has HDD port for USB as that is generally 5V 1A.

2) Use 2 x 500mA ports on your TV with a cable that combines the 2 power inputs into one final connector thus giving you 1A.
