Flipping floppies
Hi all,
I own a 1200 with a blizzard 1230/iv 16mb accelerator, internal hard drive, zip 100 drive and a second hard drive courtesy of idefix 97 plus a squirrel scsi cd rom drive So here is the problem. My floppy drive reads ALL floppy disks as DF0:???? and I cant save anything TO floppy. I have a couple of spares but they will read any floppy as DF0:???? as well and not be written to either. I am trying to create a boot disk for running my cd32's on my A1200.Just a lousy few kb's and I cant do it.If anyone can help I would appreciate your time in replying. My OS roms are 3.1 and I am running Bloodwych's full workbench. If only I had a brain like his !!! Thanks in advance Dave |

if you get DF0:?????? or such like before you put a disk in, I would say the cable was either damaged or inputed the wrong way.
However if its only when a disk is inserted (any disk) then I am tempted to sa that perhaps the floppy drive is dead... fear not.... you should be able to get one under a tenner as long as its a500/600 and 1200 compatible all should be good... just make sure its not one of them nasty butched pc hd drives as they have issues with NDOS disks. Theres a thread about compatible internal drives for the miggy arround here some where, there is list and conversion details on AMINET too |

Hi Zetro,
Thanks for the advice - the floppy will read some disks correctly and then seemingly at random will not read others - Weird! You were right about my power supply being dodgy, I bought a "new" one on Ebay from a 600 and everything is tickety boo. Thanks again, I am now off to Ebay! Have a Merry Xmas Dave |

Perhaps the disk change sensor is jammed?
Insert a disk and say diskchange df0: |

Does diskcopy/format work? I have a problem when writing files directly to disk but it works if I copy another disk. My workaround was to use fms. Copy files to a virtual disk and then diskcopy it to the real drive.
