Vampire V4 Standalone freezes a lot
Hi,
I have the Vampire V4 standalone for some time, but didn't have time to fiddle with it. My usage pattern so far is connecting to the network, firing up AWeb to browse some html files on disk (because I am developing software on it with vbcc). Tried emacs, but it constantly freezes the system. Now on VIM and it seems to work. But I really need the browser to lookup documentation. Is there any alternative ? I had a registration in the apollo core forums, but I dont have the password anymore. Tried reseting the password, but never received any email. Tried to contact the webmaster,no reply. How can I make Apollo OS more stable ? Thanks, Regards |

Have you installed latest Core 7.4 ?
Latest ApolloOS distribution is 7.3. AWeb is not very good for surf the web with Amiga... Anyway try to make a new account on Apollo Forum |

It's not a Classic it's my AROS One 68k which is just AROS 68k same as Apollo OS.
NetSurf also works on ApolloOS you just have to install the right libraries |

As just told there is an amiga classic os installation ready to be restored on a CF Card, it's CoffinOS which is simply an OS3.9 with various improvements.
But you can install the workbench you prefer, but better prepare the CF Card with WinUAE where you install the os base + SAGA drivers and then on Vampire V4 you finalize all. You can use the coffin rom which is basically a kick 3.x (45.64) or the latest OS3.2. |

If you have ApolloOS you don't need CoffinOS, NetSurf on ApolloOS works well and even better than CoffinOS !

@disa: first you could test latest ApolloOS distribution (actually 7.2) and then make a decision if pass to classic "coffin" os, etc...
I know that Apollo Team is very busy to improve ApolloOS, they are trying to fix all the bugs found. It's an hard work, but it's good they are working on it, because it's the standard OS (free of copyright) which one is installed on every V4 they sell. |

As DanyPPC said, it seems to be a new version (7.2).
I don't know where it is that I can download it. I also am more inclined to staying with Apollos because I like it. Anyone know where the latest 7.2 can be downloaded from ? |
