The best on any platform is Wii Sports on the Wii. The controller makes all the difference.

hmm.. my memory of ami golf games isnt so great
used to play the old PGA Tour a lot.. from memory the much later PGA European Tour was good to. I preferred the c64 version of leaderboard..
I remember Mean 18 specifically for it's caddyshack reference.
Microprose Golf was a bitch to control I think..

anyway yers - PGA Tour gets my vote

Hmmm, Leader Board for a "realistic" golf game.

Sensible Golf is cool fun

...but I really love Zany Golf

I always found Sensible Golf really frustrating but I do like it... PGA European Tour was actually really good on the Amiga - I never played a better golf game on the Amiga.

Tiger Woods Series on the PS2 was good but I remeber the best golf game or the one I had the most fun playing was Nintendo Golf on the NES - We used to play it in the pub as there was a coin Op version of it as well...

On the Amiga: PGA European Tour is my favourite, but Sensible Golf is good in short bursts, and Zany Golf is great fun in multiplayer.

I have to agree with the Wii Sports one, though - that is awesome (even though I'm useless at it)

SNAP

(Zany Golf gets fired up on the GP2X now and again when i'm on my lunch in work for a quick round with colleagues)

Other than that i think the Hot Shots/Everybody's Golf series for the PS1/PS2 are outstanding. Simple, Fun and VERY VERY addictive.

It would be great to see that Atari 2600 golf game in action, are there any videos of the "game" available?

It's hard to imagine exactly what you would do when the player is 4 times taller than a tree and it seems to combine a top down view with a side on shot of the player and an angled tree!

PGA Euro Tour is my favourite Amiga golf game btw! It was more slick than the original PGA, but I like C64 Leaderboard the best!

Not played Euro Tour (yet!) but played the original PGA to death. Was really into that. On the 8-bits it had to be Leaderboard (tournament edition, I never really liked the World Class version!). Worms golf is fun on my phone now too though!

Zany Golf is not just my favourite Amiga golf game, it's my favourite golf game ever. Links and Nick Faldo can jump in a lake.

It's been at least 15 years since I last played this, so my memory may be a little hazy but the game was fairly simple. The Atari places you at the ball. You're not able to move. You are able to adjust your hit speed however. I think this was done by holding down your button. The club then would rotate up to 360 degrees, until you let go of your button. From there, the ball would be hit. Obviously the earlier that you let go of your button is less power. The ball bounces off the trees when hit and goes slower when the sand bunker is hit. There may have even been water hazards? Like I said, at least 15 years, so my memory of the game may be completely wrong. It wasn't too bad back then, however if you play it today, I'm sure it'd be a joke.

Since I'm part of this thread now, I may as well give my opinion of the best

On the C64, there's no going past World Class Leaderboard. I played this to death, way more than I did Leaderboard.

On the Amiga, PGA Tour Golf. No contest. European Tour I never really played often, so I can't really say much about it.

In the arcades, it has to be Golden Tee Classic with an honorable mention going to Neo Turf Masters.

The golf game that I believe to be the best of all time is Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06. I've not played any later than that, so I can't really rate newer games (such as the Wii Sports golf game), but I thought this game was the best example of a golf simulation, ever. Great graphics, sound and adjustable gameplay. It's part of the EA sports range so I'm sure it's the same game for the past 5 or so years, but I love it.
