Best internet apps for amigaos 3.9?
I'm trying to set up a install image and was wondering what people thought the best mail, browser, internet etc apps were. I tried using AEMail230.lha but it gets a "bad lzh data" error when trying to extract it from amines.net...
Any help? |

For FTP, DopusFTP is the best hands down, but it requires DOpus 5.x.
And for SSH: AmTelnet, Napsaterm (although they both are SSH1 only, but if it's enough for you, they're much better by usability than shell only OpenSSH ports which would support SSH2 too) NetFS Revised is a good filesharing protocol between Amigas. SMBFS for filesharing between other platforms. RC-FTPd is a good FTP server. Xami is a good X-server. Last edited by jPV; 14 July 2017 at 20:54. |

I agree that if you have a fast system NetSurf web browser is definately the best. There is no discussion worth about it.
Regarding TCP-IP stacks, despite being there various available options, I would only consider two of them because they are the only ones that support dynamic IP adresses in a proper manner (DHCP). Roadshow, is one of them. It is still supported but unfortunately has no GUI. The other one is Miami Deluxe, which is no longer supported and comes with an easy to use GUI. |

If you like oldschool then there's also Links - text based web browser.
http://aminet.net/package/comm/www/Links2.12 There's also Jabberwocky. However, I've never used it. https://sourceforge.net/projects/aja...bberwocky/1.9/ |

And if transfer speeds are important, don't install any version of Miami, they're about half slower than any other stack. |

Ok, i have roadshow purchased and working, but i still have some issues. Netsurf starts up but complains about a missing gfx library and images are munged up.
What do I install to get YAM? There are like 300 entries in aminet.net... |

There's no reason to use that old version. I'd update to 3.8.

What kind of Amiga you have?
Download OS3.5/9 version of Netsurf here. https://www.unsatisfactorysoftware.c...php?pg=netsurf Download test release. You will need these libraries http://aminet.net/package/dev/misc/guigfxlib http://aminet.net/package/dev/misc/renderlib31 Netsurf itself doesn't require FPU, but those libraries does. There is also a no fpu versions of them, but I haven't tried them. NEtsurf is very useable with 68060 and semi useable with 68040. It requires 32mb ram. There is some confusion, as there is also a Netsurf fork, wich is based SDL / Frambuffer version of Netsurf. That version is originally targeted to no gui systems and debugging. It has custom made gui. It requires some more ram than actual Netsurf requires. It is very useable with emulators, when Netsurf is targeted to real Amigas. Sites like this or Amiga.org renders about 20 seconds and are displayer (about) correctly. Last edited by utri007; 18 July 2017 at 20:21. |

Just right, there is only confusion, If executable interrogations you get 3.6, if you ask information about the program you have 3.7
