Classic Amiga Wallpapers
Hi.
I am looking for some wallpapers for my WB2.05 and 3.1 setups. I want classic images from the good old days. Does anyone have any suggestions where I can find those old wallpapers? Kind Regards /Magnus |

You asking how to set a workbench background?
Open Sys: (Workbench) directory and go into the prefs drawer, and load WbPattern. There you can set images for the workbench screen and windows. The images are best to be iff files but other file types will work if you have the appropriate datatypes. |

Thanks for the reply dude!
Appropriate datatypes? Ok, So say I have a jpeg image on my mac or pc and want to transfer it using easyadf... Is it a case of copying and pasting said image then into prefs drawer or WBpattern? Or would I have to convert any image into an iff first before using it? |

Is the A600's Workbench running in High Res or High Res Interlaced mode? The most you can use is 16 colours, and you would be better off locking the palette to a good one first, then resizing and remapping all your wallpaper images to that palette in advance, saving them as IFF/ILBM and then loading them from WBPattern. As far as I can remember, only Workbench 3 lets you use pictures as backgrounds, Workbench 2 just lets you use little tiled patterns I think. So I hope the A600 is getting a 3.1 ROM/EPROM. With a little effort you could get your A600 looking like this, but when you're limited to 16 colours and only a few MB RAM you have to make compromises, I don't think you'll be able to have the nice window borders and textures unless you have 2-4MB FastRAM (PCMCIA SRAM is fine).
A very good program to use for converting, resizing and remapping images for Workbench backdrops is ImageStudio. I pasted some links to the program and a previous post on how to use it here: http://eab.abime.net/showpost.php?p=...&postcount=407 |

Datatypes is how the amiga reads different file formats (jpg, png, gif...) IFF support comes with workbench. The others can be found on aminet.net
For starters goto aminet.net and find a nice IFF format. Copy it to your HD somewhere, you should be able to select the file from within WbPattern program. Assuming your using Workbench 3 as Cammy stated (which i was unaware). |
