A1200 DF0 and DF1 swapping help needed pls
Hi guys
i did the DF0-DF1 mod but i cant seem to get anything from the external drive if the floppy or gotek is in there. anyone ever done this to the A1200 ? im not 100% sure if the external resistor i removed is the one for sel1 i used my multi meter to beep it back tot he pin so i "think" its the correct one. any help here greatly appreciated ps both drives work ok internally. but i want my gotek in the external enclosure. thanks dave |

i saved the resistor as you can see by one of the pics. so no worries putting it back if it was the wrong line removed :S dave |

I’m not getting what you are doing here Bromigo?!
Are you attempting 2 internal drives 1 as DF0: and and 1 as DF1: ? But using the internal Floppy drive header? And a switch? But I’m now confused about GOTEK in a external case bit? I’ve done the 2 drives as 1 DF0: at a time with the internal header. Df0: and Df1: but using the internal and external connector inside a tower case. And I’ve actually got a Micronik adapter that allows 2 internal drives to be used as DF0: and Df1: in a Infinitiv case. |

The modification is to enable the use of a Gotek on the external floppy port that can also be set as DF0: so games can be booted from it.

its so i can keep the amiga internals pretty much stock (floppy)
but i want to switch sel0 and sel1 around on the CIA chip so i put the gotek into the external caddy case and that be set as sel0 (DF0) and the internal floppy then takes on the role as DF1 hope your following dave |

Show the schematic you are using for this mod. What type of switch are you using and what are the connections.

Hi, the original, mechanical floppy drive will only respond as DF0: due to the MTR0 signal (PIN 16 of floppy cable) only working for DF0:. You've connected to the right places, just the mod won't work.
To use the mechanical floppy drive external, you need something like my circuit here: https://github.com/istedman/Floppy_a..._schematic.png, IC1-IC3 swap the MTR signal around from internal to external, if needed. I have zero stock of the PCBs at the moment, sorry. Last edited by Stedy; 18 May 2022 at 21:58. Reason: Clarification of final paragraph |

could do with one of your pcbs mate if they are easy enough to install.
so on a side note, my install is correct, its just not compatible on the A1200 like it is on the A500/600 ? thanks dave |
