I suspect whoever sold you this had a RAM expansion. What did the advert say?

There looks to be 2 hard drive partitions. There is something odd going on with your floppy drives.

You interpret the Avail numbers like this:

Total -> Maximum is the hardware memory that the Amiga sees at boot here. You have 1MB Chipmem and no Fastmem in the machine.

Total -> In-Use is what is left after booting, but not yet loading Workbench.

This figure is high, ~110K over Workbench 2.0 with normal settings. Buying some memory is a good idea. 1MB is the bare minimum, and it's not so strange DPaint won't start.

Until you get more memory, let's see if we can get rid of the extra 110K at least!

To find the unit for Addbuffers, type Info and press Enter.

Use the device name (under Unit) which has WB_2.x under the column Name.

If it has 220 buffers and the device name is e.g. DH2, type Addbuffers DH2: -170 and press Enter. It should now say that the unit has 50 buffers.

You should also get a little bit more from removing the external disk drive - unless it has a switch on the back which was already switched off.

I wanted to add that we are just asking you to do temporary commandline stuff to help you with a fix, so you can use Workbench and some programs now.

You won't have to do commandline stuff after the fix or after you get more memory, Amiga just starts Workbench and you can use it with the mouse as normal.

If you bought it with 2MB chipmem, we could guide you to open the Amiga if you need it. To see if the 1MB extra chipmem has come loose in transport.

If you will buy one, does not matter which of those. Battery backed RTC (real time clock) is fine, but not necessary. But as was already said, first check if there is not already one installed in your trapdoor.

Great, thanks. You are the best guys. I opened the backside of my Amiga, and it was no extra memory there, so its missing.

When i looked at the Amiga board where to enter the extra memory, it had some black spots, I really hope that the Amiga board is okay, so that my new extra memory works.
What do you think?

You don't have to close threads, but you can request it. Normally only threads with fighting are closed though.

If you buy more memory, your closest retailer is ggsdata.se, which I recommend.

If you order from a foreign store instead, make sure they're in the same economic region as you (EU) to avoid customs handling and fees.
