quitting on 68000?
hi guys,
just wondering if there is anything that might help me be able to use the quit function on Bloodwych, when running on a 68000 machine? it's actually for emualtion purposes, since i'm making a front-end for both bloodwych and its data disk. I'ts working fine on the 68020, but becasue pspuae (for where its use is intended) wont support 68020 with the FAME core, i'm looking for an alternative solution. I tried NOVBRMOVE , which was mentioned int he rainbow islands readme as helping quit on 68000 (although, tbh, i couldnt get the RI slave to run on the 68000 either anyway)..... but all this did was have the reverse effect (disabling quit) on the 68020 setup. i know the slave is pretty old... (it works on pre v1.0 whdload ffs... ) and somewhat "out of service" - so theres not much point in requesting a fix for it, (certainly not from the author!) but i thought maybe someone would have a solution? or is this a pretty rigid limit of whdload on 68000 machines? thanks for any help that can be offered. |

The source isn't in the installer archive... so if Wepl doesn't have it - it could be an issue
If the sourcecode was available this could be quite a simple change... |

right-e-o.... well if there's anything i can do with a copy of bloodwych, my a500 and my action replay III (or i could just be really lazy and stick to winUAE!) in order to help aid this fix, i'll gladly throw in some man-hours towards it!
edit: musashi5150 - thanks for looking into it.... i was worried that updating it might be an issue, due to the slaves age. fingers-crossed on Wepl then! |

Also, have you contacted the original author about it? He may well bash out a quick tweak for you... Last edited by musashi5150; 14 November 2006 at 16:56. |

well, i asked Wepl, and he doesnt have any of Morbidus' sources.... and i've still had no word from him on his probably-defunct e-mail address so i guess there's not much chance of a fix without a complete re-write?
is reverse-engineering it even possible? i think i still have a fully-working cracked copy (there was a cracked copy which was incomplete as i recall) as well as my original disks, to help out.... but it's a bit much to ask of anyone |

i must admit, wepl mentioned resourcing, and i completely misinterpretted it as something that sounded quite difficult! (either finding the source from somewhere else, or a ground-up re-code... i assume this isnt the case then?) i'd still like to offer any help i could, cos i hate to ask for such things that would benefit myself primarily (and anyone else wanting to play Extended Levels on the PSP of course! ) ... though i'm really not sure what i can offer? i created an edited version of the main executeable which could be used to create a trainer if anyone wanted to add that? it just gives you loads of cool items and stupidly high stats (too high in fact, that needs tweeking a little - hehe) |

Check the Zone
This is a brand new slave written from scratch, with much help from disassembly of the 1.2 slave by Morbidus. It requires WHDLoad v16. You should copy it to your install directory and create a new icon for it. You need to create a new "data" subdirectory and copy the "BLOODWYCH" and any "bloodsaveN" files to that directory. Load & save games are all from hard disk. Ten save positions are supported as before and your existing saves will work. It doesn't do loading/saving from floppy like the 1.2 slave - there will be a RawDIC installer in the final package to transfer your floppy savegames to hard drive. It should exit on 68000 as well now Test it and let me know how it goes... |

That's some pretty quick work there sir. Get testing you Bloodwych whores!
You better finish your testing in the same time it took Girv to do the slave... 8 days and counting... *tick* *tock* *tick* |

First real time off in 18 months and I spend it glued to disassemblies and hex dumps until 3am most mornings ... can't think of a better way right now @Hungry Horace: no need to fear, the data disk slave will follow BTW, does it use the same savegames as the main game? |
