Subliminal messages in Hawkeye pic, C64 version!

I still have a copy of the original tape version of Hawkeye by Thalamus. Long time ago I ripped with a cartidge (a clone of Final Cartdidge II) the loading image,

The with a program like Koala paint I changed the background color from black to red... some pixels in the lower right corner remianed black, and the formed the words "buy Armalyte"... as you now, Armalyte was another game by Thalamus, released as the sequel of Delta...

It does not work with this gif image... if I will have so free time I want to redo this experiment under Vice!

Reminds me of the end picture of Cannon Fodder, if you change the background color from black to any other color you'll see some hidden texts.

Just to be picky... although undoubtedly cool, these aren't subliminal messages if they can't normally be seen!

Subliminal messages are, for example, altering 1 frame of a video with words such as "Buy this product!!". Although the brain doesn't register as seeing it (ie. you don't notice it) you subconsciously want to buy the product.

TV adverts have to follow guidelines that any text or images on screen should exist for a minimum of 4 frames, although this varies from country to country.

I think these are subliminal messages. According to wiki:

Quote:
A subliminal message is a signal or message embedded in another medium, designed to pass below the normal limits of perception. These messages are unrecognizable by the conscious mind, but in certain situations can affect the subconscious or deeper mind and later actions or attitudes.

Not reading the above, but subliminal message to me is a message that CAN be seen, but hard to do so as it could be ONE frame among alot, or if it's close to the same color as the rest of the image etc.

Anyway, it can be seen, and the example in the first post can't be considered as a submliminal message as this message cannot be seen without changing the color.

Mmm, that could have been the intended purpose, but then it's not in the same color as the back as stated in the first post.... which also explains why there was a message a at all, as they probably wouldn't have bothered to make one if it has the exact same color as the back, as no one would be able to read it......

SO... , a message being there must be because it was in a slightly different color so the brightness would reveal it...

i'm puzzled... how many colours could have on screen CBM64?
if it's 16, the GIF palette should be alike the original, or at least show only 15 colours used, while instead there are 16 different ones in this palette...

The picture posted in the first post uses 15 colors. But the palette has 16 colors.

Just thought of something, maybe the message only appears when the game is loading?... many C64 games have the major background color flashing in different colors, this would make the message stand out.
