Team Hoi Amiga game development article
Hi,
I've recently written some 'memoires' in the shape of a nostalgic article about our years as Amiga game and demo developers. If you're as sentimental as I am about the golden days of the Amiga, you might like it. Warm regards from the Netherlands! Metin |

Oh you made Clockwiser?
Now that's a game I loved. Not exactly action packed but the Amiga had a shortage of games you could just sit down with and relax. |

Thanks!
Yeah, we instructed our music composer to keep the tunes as relaxing as possible, because the user already had to solve the puzzles against a countdown timer. I remember there was an Amiga puzzle game (conversion?) called Puzznic, with music by Tim Follin, and the music got more and more hectic and nervous as the time ran out. That was a terrible choice in my humble opinion. |

Heck yes Puzznic, another favorite of mine Quite stress-inducing indeed. I kind of liked it though, it gave a coolness factor to the game and you're not listening to the same music all the time.

Puzznic was the only music by Tim Follin I couldn't listen to.
I've always been a Tim Follin fan, although I later discovered that some of my favorite tunes of his were arrangements of the arcade originals, such as the majority of the Ghouls 'n' Ghosts tunes, which turned out to be composed by the talented (and charming) Tamayo Kawamoto. |

Certainly an interesting read, thanks for posting!
That Peanutbutter Power Game, has that ever been released? It even seems to have a Wikipedia article: https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peanutbutter_Power_Game but is it available for download anywhere? |

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the article.
The Peanutbutter Power Game was never released. It was kind of a hacky, limited little project, specifically developed for a TV commercial and for being played in a children's TV show. It existed of only one static level: a house with a number of obstacles and a peanutbutter jar in the cellar as the ultimate goal. We had to realize the design, code, playability, graphics, animation and music in a relatively short time. It was a fun project though. |

Does the game still exist? Or did it get lost?

I'm afraid it got lost. The coder searched for it a while ago, but couldn't find it anymore.
I've still got the graphics though (background and sprites). Here's the commercial featuring the game: [ Show youtube player ] |

What about source for this music? Ramon Braumuller or game disk? Sounds like Mugician module.

Thanks a lot! Looks very nice! Too bad the program got lost
Btw, is this game not in HOL? Should definitely be added, especially considering the fact that it could be seen on national television! |

Thanks! I don't believe it's in HOL. I guess I never thought about submitting it, because the game itself was never publicly released. Is the maintainer of HOL present over here? I can provide as much info and images as I can. I believe I've also still got the music MOD.

In 1992 Team Hoi created a custom game to be used in a Calvé peanut-butter television commercial, introducing two novelties in the Netherlands: it was the first commercial with a duration of 75 seconds (instead of the usual 20 seconds) and the first commercial featuring a custom-made computer game. Following the commercial the game was played by kids in the most popular Dutch children's matinee of that time: Telekids. Those who managed to complete the game won their height in stacked jars of Calvé peanut-butter. A little girl who starred in the commercial would later become a well-known Dutch actress and presenter: Lieke van Lexmond. The Calvé commercial was her debut. The screenshot shows a scene from the TV commercial. In 2018 the Peanutbutter Power Game was included in the Dutch 'Games Canon', a collection of landmark Dutch game productions. See my post above for some of the game's graphics, and I've attached the music module for the game, created in our own music editor Digital Mugician. Finally, here's a video of the commercial: [ Show youtube player ] |

I've also got the music module, created in our music editor Digital Mugician, but I guess files with the .DMU extension are not uploaded. Shall I rename the extension, or...?
