Amiga 500 power supply power "fading" led?

I have an A500 power supply that doesn't seem to be working. When I plug it to the machine, the power led slowely fades in which is really weird.

any idea what could be wrong? i would like to fix it. recapping?

the computer is fine, tested with a good known working psu.

Capacitors in the power supply is one suspect.

i see, any idea how many are in there? is there a list of materials, a schematic or anything i can look at for repair?

There are several different PSU designs that Commodore used, all will have different parts. Generally there'll be around 10 capacitors in there to change. The simplest way to know for sure would be to open it up, make a list of the capacitors and order them. Many people opt instead to replace the internals with a modern PSU module.
