I know people make games and port stuff from the ST, but -imo- what we need is a game editor which is actually capable of producing quality games and it's easy to use.

Amiga needs a good games creator, something like backbone but completed and with decent speed on OCS Amiga.

AMOS is a bad language (i don't mean it is slow), but something with the same design goal could go down well.

that's true that a new game creator should be awesome !!!!
But is it a realistic goal ?? I don't know if galahad had enough time to do it ??
Only him can tell, one thing is sure it should be an amazing challenge.

based on this, we could really have an instrument by itself applying some new concepts using our lovely Paula.

I thought the easiest thing to do is a Live Sample player based on Fasttracker instruments. It could work on a productivity screen to achieve >28k samples even on a plain a600.

I could easy convert multisample instruments to 8 bit XI, so the amiga could be used as a drum player connected as MIDI slave. Some kind of "Fairlight CMI" emulator for amiga would be nice.
Following on from this, I'd rather see a true synth made with some of the techniques in that link. There have obviously been attempts in the past but with today's soft synths available elsewhere I think a proper tone generation / wavetable style synth would be very interesting and something that isn't too "chip" sounding unless you want it to sound like that with simple oscillator waveforms & sound design.

With the lack of CPU power and a audio chip like Paula the workarounds used for the sound generation could get some strange but pleasing artefacts. Could sound fucking awful as well, aliased, digital clipped etc.

This is exactly what capcom used to make a game like final fight. It deals with sprite move speed, placement on screen, etc.

In this example, the guy is preparing graphics for an amiga aga game in 256 colors

Just excellent !

@cobe
I have the idea that at the end the avi4hv is like an anim-5 or an anim-7 file plus audio, therefore working on the delta compression: it was used extensively for CGI animation on real time; in order to work properly with CD it should be modified to handle streaming+buffering at the 300kb/s properly but i see it hard with small amounts of RAM and cpu power, however am not an expert and wonder if some existing techniques on other platforms can be re-adapted for creating a decent format.

A new OS written from scratch that's not compatible with AOS, with a range of newly written (from scratch as well) programs for it. The Amiga software revolution, if you will. Not going to happen, I know
