AmigaDOS strange palette HDF - PUAE

I am experimenting using RetroArch with PUAE core and I have a HDF file created with Pinball Fantasies AGA installed. When I run this using PUAE the AmigaDOS palette is black and grey...

I cannot work out what is driving this behaviour... any ideas how I can revert to classic KS3 colours?

This looks intentional.
If you want to revert this to classic KS3, replace devs/system-configuration in this HDF with one from normal KS3 setup.

Thanks for the suggestion - it does not correct the colours in PUAE core. The same HDF in WinUAE shows the KS3 colours, so maybe bug in PUAE??

I don't know if it's a bug or a configuration issue, but at least this proves it's not on the Amiga side.
What kickstart do you use for PUAE ?

I use various kickstarts. Usually "Automatic" setting based on a Amiga Model e.g. A1200 (v3.1, 2M Chip).

Interestingly I have narrowed this down to using a HDF file. When using early start-up with no start-up sequence ADF will provide correct colours, but both my HDF configs show the black/grey palette.

This turns out to be a RetroArch setting. Something to do with the in-built WHDLoad compatibility. You can change the palette back to default thankfully.
