Weegie Nights - A brand new Drink-Em-Up

It's Friday night, so it seems an appropriate time to draw everyones attention to Weegie Nights, the Scottish Amiga User Group's entry to the Blitz Basic Game Jam 2022.

Guide our hero, Ned, through a boozy night out in Glasgow. Keep him in "the zone" to keep him out longer - if he gets too drunk or too sober, he'll have to go home. Spend your cash wisely, buy booze and food to balance Ned's drunkenness and help him last the distance. Keep in mind different establishments will have different opening hours, and watch out for the unsavoury characters roaming the streets, ready to put an end to Ned's night.

Lets face it, it's cold and horrible out there, so why not enjoy a night out from the comfort of your Amiga

Yeah, it's impressively grim alright, based on a legitimate photo of a pretty dodgy area in Glasgow. The game itself isn't nearly that dark

Is the title screen that massive abandoned area, Clune park or whatever its called?
From some videos ive seen of the place, it still seems there is the odd person still living there, but 99% is abandoned?

Exactly, very similar to Irish and Scottish nights out for some people. It's funny as I get all the "lingo" in this game. Many years of watching Rab C Nesbit and Still Game. Those shows prepared me for my eventual visits to Glasgow. I like the city too! Like everywhere though, it will have it's rough areas of course!

Well, there are a few of us involved from the Scottish Amiga Users Group. I did the coding, some of the other guys did the graphics, sound, map design and so on.

Yeah, it's a work in progress, we ran out of time before the jam deadline so there are a couple of bugs in there to fix, and a whole heap of ideas we didn't get around to implementing. But there will be updates for it in time.
