This one came in 5th in the annual IF competition in 1995 (yes, there really is such a thing). If anyone is interested, I'm sure I could put this and an interpreter onto an ADF file for upload to the Zone. You'd then need to load it from Workbench, just like you would with the old Infocom games. As for Castle Wolfenstein, I don't believe that Muse ever released it for the Amiga, but I do have a copy of an Amiga version that was apparently done by a fan. I'm assuming that's the version you've heard about. The graphics and sound are about as close to the original Apple II graphics and sound as you can get on the Amiga, which is to say that it's not particularly lovely to look at or to listen to. Again though, if anyone wants it, I can certainly upload it to the Zone. |

- Donald Duck's Playground (1986)(Disney Software/Sierra)
I've got this one, I dloaded it from the defunct amigaemulation.com ... will up it later, but I bet is TOSECized, since I got it from the web! - Brainies, The I think this is the WIP name for Tiny Skweeks, or perhaps the french name for the game? I can't confirm this, but I think this is what that game was... |

Speaking of down at the trolls Akira. I noticed on the thread with the link to the page selling the rare games that there was a game called Realm of the troll there among the cheaper of them. Maybe people have been searching for the wrong name?

Championship Othello is also known as Othello (well, in Zzap!, April 1988 it was mentioned as this name). Still haven't found it, though.
It is remarkable all games published by Kingsize cannot be found on the Net. I am searching for Brainstorm (Jigsaw puzzle), Kwasimodo (remake of Hunchback) and Ballraider (an Arkanoid-clone) all published by this company but with no luck. I have The Brainies on my original Amiga. It is just the English title of Tiny Skweeks and it is a full game. At the moment I cannot convert the game to ADF. The Dig-Dug clone Dugger can be downloaded from PE2000.net. It is marked as a bad file but works fine as long as you load it with Kickstart 1.2 Last edited by Tim Janssen; 14 June 2002 at 14:57. |

@Chuckles
If you are referring to All Quiet On The Library Front and Castle Wolfenstein, I say up them. Actually, I have AQOTLF (the .z5 file), but it (like the myriad IF files I have) needs to be made ready to run. It would be wonderful if someone took on the task of making ready to run IF disks for the Amiga (for them that can't move around in AmigaDOS space!). My old friend Rockie sent me a slopheap on compacts he'd made of IF games (I really need to get those to the TOSEC team!). Castle Wolfenstein - I don't believe I have that one, so please up. @scifi I'm still working on your list. Some intriguing stuff in there. I upped a few last night, but was quite exhausted from yet another night of hell at my (miserable) job and ended up hitting the hay with sagging, sore, bloodshot eyes. With each title on your list, I have to check a lot of different places on my HD and if I find it, I convert the DMS (if exists) and pass through TOSEC dats, then rename in TOSEC style, so my way is a bit heavy-handed. Also, I test them to make sure they aren't something different renamed. That's how come I didn't post a pointer here about it, because I wasn't really finished. And thanks so much for marking your list...very efficient! |

@Twistin' Ghost
Ok, since you expressed an interest, I've now upped "All Quiet on the Library Front" and "Castle Wolfenstein" to the Zone. Hope you enjoy them. As for "All Quiet On The Library Front", the ADF image that I put together is non-bootable and requires WB 2.04 or greater, as my Z-code interpreter of choice is the Amiga version of Frotz, which requires that. For Z-code formatted IF games, all that would need to be done to create an Amiga friendly version of the game would be to make a copy of the ADF that I uploaded, delete the "Story.Data" file, and copy your own Z-code data file to the ADF to replace it, renaming it as "Story.Data". This should work equally well for both the classic Infocom adventure data files, and for any Z-code adventures created using Inform. As far as making "ready to run" IF game disks based on the Z-machine goes, that is how I would go about doing it myself. Because I'm also a fairly avid collector of such IF, I'd be willing to take on the task of creating and uploading this sort of disk, assuming that I either have or can find the required data files. Because there are hundreds of games in this format though, I'd think this would be the sort of thing that should probably be based on specific game requests, rather than simply building and uploading a ton of images that nobody wants. If you or anybody else wants me to build and upload something like this, just let me know and I'll be happy to do so. |

@Chuckles
I agree with most of what you said. There was a time when I was starting that IF2ADF project...I think I got a couple of disks done and became sidetracked with...well, could have been anything, really. ![]() As for the process of making the disks, one thing I have found in making disks, adf's and DMS files is that when you delete a file from a disk, it doesn't purge it. So when the disk is being compressed (via zip, dms or whatever) it is also compressing that non-purged data, making for a bigger file. Whenever I am in one of my "creating-adf's-from-lha-files" moods, I generally make a directory and in there I keep an s/ dir with an empty startup-sequence, a devs/system-configuration dir/file, and a c/ dir with a handful of common utils that might possibly be needed on the disk. If I was making IF disks, I'd also have a copy of the interpreter and any libs or whatever that would be needed, as well. Then I would make newly formatted/installed disks/adf's and transfer to those clean disks. Another thing I commonly will do is to make a DMS of a blank formatted (and 1.3 installed!) disk. It's so much easier to undms (via my DOpus button) a ready to work with disk. I abhor getting games that run perfectly in 1.3, yet are installed with a latter bootblock (or one that uses 3.x c/ commands!) - forcing you to use a 3.1 config. The old boot and commands work perfectly with either rom, so it's always more compatible to go with the older versions (unless the game actually requires 3.x) @scifi I look forward to your MIA list. Nice to see another one coming up, because you will likely have titles listed that I either don't know about or haven't yet gotten around to adding to my MIA. I'm getting ready to update my list a bit anyhow. As for Cody, last time I checked he was hanging out on Christopher Street with Frederic... ![]() |
