I prefer FAT32 or NTFS (harddisk directories).

Only very few programs need a HDF for compatibility (for example registered MakeCD).

I've got the full version of Payback running from Hard disk directories just fine, no need for HDF files. Out of curiosity, what was it that was causing the problem for you, that made you have to use HDF files for compatibility? Are you using the latest Payback update, version 7?

To answer the original post, I use NTFS with hard disk directories. I find this to be the fastest method of using hard disks with WinUAE, plus there is the added advantage that you can access your Amiga files from Windows Explorer in the case of a partition becoming unbootable, for editing startup sequences in notepad, and for general stuff like copying files and moving files around. Much quicker than in Workbench!

Steve.

NTFS for PC Hard-Drives
SFS for Amiga Hard-Drives

The latest version of the Payback demo works fine with a folder drive as opposed to a hardfile.
