Can't read FAT formatted VHD with SCSI.device

In the Zone is a VHD formatted using FAT95.
Using uaehf.device it works perfectly but using Commodore A600/A1200/A4000 IDE Winuae doesn't boot up or if it does and I try and access the drive I get the message "Bad Number"

This might not be a WinUae problem but like I say the drive can be accessed with uaehf.device

Quickstart A1200

The problem is the scsi.device in kick 3.1. You must use a newer scsi.device with support for drives over 4GB

In order to use scsi.device you have to select a Chipset Extra with an IDE port, i.e. A1200, A4000 or A600. And you have to use a matching ROM. E.g. an A4000 ROM won't work with A1200 chipset and vice versa.

When you add the HDF you also have to enable Full Drive / RDB Mode.

Thanks, those requirements are met and work fine with FFS but not FAT

here is my mount list it works fine with uaehf.device

Code:
PH0
FileSystem = l:fat95
Device = scsi.device
Unit = 1
Flags = 0
LowCyl = 0
HighCyl = 0
Surfaces = 1
BlocksPerTrack = 1
BlockSize = 512
Buffers = 20
BufMemType = 1
BootPri = 0
Stacksize = 4096
Priority = 5
GlobVec = -1
DosType = 0x46415401

Try MountDos and tooltypes INFO
Can you see partitions in MBR?
Set Device and Unit correctly

I cannot believe I never knew about Boot95.
You can have a CF formatted with a FAT partition and boot straight from it.

This has all kinds of possibilities for easy setup on an 1200/600.

But still can't get WinUae Scsi.device working.

Works for me if unit is zero. (slave only probably isn't supported, don't remember if it was supposed to work or not. Not that important anyway)

Ok thanks, it didn't seem to make a difference after using boot95 I put it in my A600 and it booted.

In the Zone is a VHD this can be written back to CF with WinImage for use on real A1200/A600 with CF2IDE adapter uses a bootable FAT partition so you don't even need to go into WinUae.

Theres nothing on it yet - I might expand on this- AGS, SCALOS etc. But you can just copy whatever you want under Windows plug it into your A600/1200 and away you go.
