Top 10 Best Amiga Platformer Games (reworked)
Hey,
It's a rework of an older video. The original one was over an hour long and just difficult to watch. Also, it had a copyright claim against it because of the music in Bubble Bobble. So, I made this shorter and hopefully easier to watch. Let me know if I've missed any of your favourites. On a side note, I didn't really ever liked James Pond games hence why they're not in the video. [ Show youtube player ] |

Man, what's with the graphical glitching in Lionheart.
Made me think too, is Ugh a platformer given that you're not really supposed to be touching too many platforms in it? I'm still on the fence. |

B.C. Kid is missing for sure. Fire and Ice too.

Rick Dangerous and Prince of Persia are a different cookie though. I consider Rick Dangerous being a great game but a Dark Souls of platformers and I lack the patience and sadly skills these days to complete those. So as much as I understand how great it is (although arguably it was more of an achievement on C64), I just never liked it as much as the other titles on the list. And Prince of Persia, well, I loved the graphics and rotoscopic animation but since it was the first couple of games that I had on my Amiga and I just played it to death, and it's a very finite title (meaning always following the same path to completion) I grew tired of it. But, they both are amazing and perhaps an overlooking on my side having made this video very subjective... |

But I always considered it to be and it's such a GOOD game... Regarding the Lionheart... I just couldn't get rid of it, regardless of configuration I chose and I went from 500 through all the iterations (500+/600) to 1200 and 4000 and it just did not go away. Emulation glitch. And sure I do have my real life Amiga 500 but I haven't got the means of recording it at the moment and no screen to connect it to. As my big screen TV has no inputs other than HDMI. Original hour-long video had Fire and Ice. It had many more titles than this too but since barely anyone went over first 5 or 6 minutes and I seemed to have a whole essay on each game it was clear that it was way too long... So... I cut it out for this shorter one. I only focused on these I liked most.

I'm disappointed at the lack of Gods and Leander, but otherwise interesting list. Well done!

Keep in mind that it's a personal opinion list eh, Kad3t is not speaking for all of us Especially Gods is a very divided game, as this forum itself has proven time and time again. You either love it or you hate it.
Blues Brothers, Chuck Rock 1 & 2, Elf, all Amiga favorites of mine. For Elf I need to slap myself on the fingers though because that is mostly based on the first two levels. As of the swamp level the quality of the level and especially puzzle design really drops off for me. |
