Swap my A600 for an A500/+
I have recently had a few amiga bits delivered to me and included was an amiga 600 (never been to keen on this model), i gave it a quick clean and its in pretty good condition it comes with the original a600 power pack (yellowed a bit) and A600 mouse (also yellowed slightly).
The system itself is working perfectly as for the past couple of days i've been running some of my older games that do not run on my a1200. Its a nice system but does have some very light yellowing to a few of the keys (anyone surprised? ). I am looking to swap it for a good full working condition A500 or possibly A500+ (with as little yellowing as possible... or even better... no yellowing! im not bothered if the psu or mouse is yellow ) You will get a nice condition fully working A600 with mouse + psu but unfortunately i cannot find a spare tv or monitor cable (been using my a1200 rgb cable to hook upto tv). It also has the warranty sticker intact postage will have to be worked out etc... and will put up some pics here when i find out where my digi cam has run off to I thought i would post it here before i decide to sell on amibay or ebay Last edited by PowerPie5000; 05 March 2009 at 22:49. |

I don't think so. It seems PowerPie wants to play from disks. So he needs his A1200 and an A500 to play all games. Swapping an A600 for an A500+ sounds pretty stupid, imho.

I must admit, I agree... way back, I swapped an A500+ for an A600.. and you can't put a hard drive in an A500 as easily as you can on the 600.

Second what Retro said Go for an A500 PowerPie
I wouldn't think too much about the yellowing now that there is Retr0bright™ |

Thanks for the suggestions, I have an a500 that i've had for as long as i remember but its completely dead, not sure where i left it to be honest so i bought another a500 original and the a600 came with it as did an old commodore printer (printer is a bit crap).
The a500 i received works fine but my collection of consoles and computers looks so sparkly and clean and the a500 is a bit more yellow than i had expected and did not even come with its own psu! I dont really have the time to try out the retr0brite method so i'm using the yellow a500 for now until i find a better one. I would consider an a500+ too as i prefer the nice classic chunky look and feel compared to the little a600.... the a600 is a good system but probably my least favourite if that makes sense? Besides i have never owned an a500+ edit: and yes i am mainly using it for playing old game disks that i used with my old a500 |

Then you need an A500 for the OCS games, or you suffer from some incompatibilities. That's for sure.

@DoogUK
You say you have some boxed miggys? i'm interested already if your willing to sell one? (or swap?) I would like to buy or swap for one... and what is the colour like on them? will it come with a psu and modulator with Y-cable? (i dont mind if the psu and mouse is a bit yellow but i am looking for a clean a500 with minimal or no yellowing ) I also have winuae if need be for those old pesky OCS games Last edited by PowerPie5000; 05 March 2009 at 23:35. |

I have a clean boxed a500, not sure of the condition of the power supply but i know the modulator is yellowed as there wasnt one in the box when i got it so added it myself, mouse rf cable and splitter "y" cable are present as are the original books and wb1.3 disks.
I'm sure i can bung in a clean power supply as i have a few of these. Too be honest if you pay the postage you are welcome to one as i have several and they sit in my loft unused and they realy need to go to homes where they will be used. I'll even bung in a 512k ram expansion. |

I dont know... that seal has a little split... and it looks pretty well stuck on there! Im sure if it had a hard drive i would have either heard it or it would appear in workbench? And im sure HD models come with the "A600HD" badge.... i think?

I suppose it does sound a bit lame but the a600 just does not seem "complete" it does not have the compatibility of the a500 and does not have the performance or graphics of the a1200.... Its a bit of a middle child with teething trouble but then again i suppose there are a few games/apps that use ECS and may not work on OCS machines?
