A500 motherboard.

How can you tell what motherboard is in an A500?

Any external indicators that can be seen without opening the case up that can help identify the board revision?

Not that I'm aware of, if you can see the colour of the silkscreen on the board from the expansions slots that might give you some idea, but afaik you'll have to take the lid off otherwise.

Ok, I was hoping that they put a simple identifier on the board like a letter or number or a bimple or a notch or something to make it easier for people to know what is under the hood.

You can potentially distinguish them by looking at the amigabus slot.. the traces near the card edge are a bit different in different revisions.

One very coarse distinction is that rev3-5 have the two rearmost contacts merged into one fat plane of copper, and rev6 onwards have all the contacts separate.
