Hiya!

Hi all. Thank you for accepting me! I have no idea why a few other Amiga forums are taking forever to accept me, but I am glad to have finally been approved by one of them.

I am very fortunate to have come across an almost virgin Amiga 500 as you can see in the pics. Story goes it was originally opened only to test, placed back in the box and left in a garage for decades. It looks practically brand new, but it gets the dreaded green screen memory error at boot up. Hopefully it is just an IC or PLCC and not the memory, but I will soon be taking it apart to find out. I already took out the extended memory module, but the green screen still shows.

Hi.
Great find. Can you take a photo of the back of the box. You might want to check the RAM expansion in the trap door as well see if the battery in it is corroded.
I see you have a US keyboard, so are you in Australia, New Zealand, Canada or USA?

Welcome to the forum. If you want to sign up to amibay there is a thread on here that you can post to.

USA.

I had taken the RAM expansion card out, but I still get the green screen. I have been reading there is a PLCC and an IC that could also cause the green screen. So I've ordered the extractors and plan to take the chips out, check for corrosion and hope for the best. This 500 has probably less than an hour of usage on it, so I am really hoping the onboard ram is not bad.
