[Found: Beetle] Puzzle/Platform sort of game, with an orange blob D:
Hey.
Right, this has been bugging me for ages. I played this game ages ago on my original amiga, I borrowed the demo of the game off a friend and gave it back later so i dont have the disk anymore. From what I remember the game was a side on view, with each level taking up the whole screen (i think) You played a sort of orange blob, that resembled a space hopper or something. The game was a puzzle come platform game, where you went around the maze sort of thing and you had to complete the puzzles in the right order or you couldn't progress. I *think it was 1 and 2 player. I know there was a demo of it on an amiga magazine coverdisk, but I can only narrow it down to either been on Amiga action, amiga power or amiga one. I'm pretty sure it was shareware aswell, because I remember the registration bit saying "send £x to the following address" the maker or company who did it had a cheetah or something for their logo, if i remember correctly. I've tried looking through various sites which have pictures of magazine coverdisks but alot of them have huge numbers of coverdisks without pictures so i've had no luck with that. I've also drawn a picture of what I think the main character looks like (pardon my poor painting skills :/) This has been bugging me for ages, so if anyone has any idea I would be immensly gratefull! thanks in advance. |

errrrr......... Space Hopper Head?
Seriously have no idea, but usually we all work hard to find out at EAB. It does strangely sound familiar.... *racks brains* |

Cody, how do you come up with suggestions so quick? Do you have the HOL downloaded into your brain?

The game im thinking of is more maze like, constructed of blocks with puzzles, and the levels i think are limited to one screens worth, if you see what i mean. Also it isn't puggsy, although he does look similar. |

I thought this might be a bit of a challenge to find. Slowly downloading all the amiga power/action/ the one coverdisks in the hope I might find it on one of them, but it's gonna take a while on my 56k |

Racked my brains a lot for this thing, but I MIGHT have got it now!
This dude you drew could be COLIN CURLY, the dog from that Quavers® crisps/cereals stuff. If I really happen to be right, it's One Step Beyond! |

Can you possibly remember the year when you might've played it,(was the game from that year,or maybe eg: 6-12months old by the time you borrowed it). Might make things a tad easier to guess/speculate,thats all.

It's Beetle, A1200-only PD game. The cheetaah-logo thing made me remember it. Came as a demo in The One January 1994. Does anybody have the full version? I'd like to play this game, it's very nice!
I couldnt find a coverdsisk on the net, nor a pic of the game, and my disks are at my parents'. If no one posts it I'll upload it next week after i went to my parents'. Oh, now thanks to Bippy I found it in an Assasins compilation. It's in Assasins Game Compilation Volumne 153 (ASI-GAMES-VOL 153). Here are screenshots, and the disk is in the Zone (or your favorite TOSEC place). It's the Demo version, if anybody has the full version please post it! Also, I coulldnt get it to ruin on winUAE. I think its A1200 only or so said the magazine. BTW nice paint rendition of the ingame character |

But you MUST be right it IS a game utilizing AGA, because in OCS or ECS configuration, the drive stops very shortly after launching the game with F2. With an A1200 config, the game loads a lot longer, but eventually, it goes back to track 40 (another floppy code finesse waiting for being supported, I guess). The version on the assassins 153 disk works perfectly on winUAE for me.
Takes about 1 minute or so to load, but works fine with my AGA config. |

Ive got to try it in my 1200, I know it's AGA because the mag said so and it never worked in my A600.

thanks!
[edit] GAWD, is that simple. Just wait for the game to decrunch (?) a certain while after stopping at Track 40. Works fine with my config now, too. I assumed it was some CPU issue (680EC020 instead of 68020 etc.) Last edited by andreas; 18 May 2004 at 20:43. |

Sorry for bringing this back from the dead, but I also had lot of love for this game
Has the full version ever been found? This got great reviews back in the day, so it would be nice if someone had registered! |
