Exclamation I've got a HUGE hard drive!

I have rescently brought a 120gig hard drive for my PC which has left me with a 80gig western digital hard drive spare, I have the ribbon cable adaptor to connect a 3.25" drive to my amiga.

My questions are:

A. Where do i get 12v power for the hard drive in my standard amiga?

B. Will my amiga support an 80gig drive?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

That is a large hard drive.

The answers to your questions already exist...

The search button is very useful indeed for unearthing lots and lots of information on EAB.

I'd say it's too large.

And power is taking from the floppy connector...

Follow blackcornflake's links, and next time, please try to use the search function FIRST.

I thought that there was a problem even if you have OS 3.5+ with partitions larger then say 4GB in size. This would mean about 20 partitions, man there would be nothing left of chip mem after the buffers initialize

@Mick_AKA:

OS 3.1 and earlier have problems with harddrives/partitions bigger than 4GB. Check this thread:

http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?threadid=3520

Near the end of the thread, "Unregistered" (that's me, I just forgot to log in) gives some explanation how to deal with these problems.

The 12V is gained from the floppy power connctor. Just use an adaptor that has an additional connector for 3.5" drives.
