Some mmu questions
I have a 4000 68040/25mhz, 18Meg Fast.
I see mmu.lha and mmulib.lha ~aminet and, since they seem to change the os with a lot of patches, im asking b4 trying: -If its going to speed up demos/ games, do i need mmu.lha or just only mmulib.lha? (i wouldnt really use mmu for any other thing but speed.) -do i get more speed running demos, but maintaining compatibility? -do i loose lots of ram (more than 128kb)? -will the patches creates backup from the old files? -i use a lot of patches to speed up the system - any problem? Tks a lot |

There will be no performance increase, but the idea is to have more compatable way of using the mmu. more programs can use the mmu at once and offeres a way for new programs to easily access the mmu for useful stuff and even offer managed virtual mem (but i dont think this ever appeared). Only app i can think off that made use of the mmu.lib is ASP spectrum emu.
do you really call loosing 128k lots of mem ? ![]() incidently lots of so called speed up patches usualy end up slowing things down as you have alot moe running in the background(and take up precious k's ![]() |

Another program who benefit of the mmu is 68k linux. In fact it can't work on Amigas without mmu.
