Question The Amstrad PC-CM monitor ?

.... Knowing that this old model also has power outputs for a computor , does anyone know if its possible to use this with A1200,s AGA output as my old vga monitor died this morning and this was given to me a while back , the previous owner hacked off one the plugs { thinking it would be easier to adadpt , instead of buying a ready made adaptor ! } pinouts and cables as below . Can anyone help ? or am I forced back to using a portable television again ?

You can use it but....

The quality is going to be about the same as a portable tv, as that's all those monitors are... iirc they have a .38" or .42" dot pitch, whereas nice 8833 MK? or 108x monitors have dot pitches between .24 and .28

It's probably not worth you while making up a lead, just use your portable - if it's got a scart socket and accepts rgb, it'll probably give you a better picture ayway

Thumbs up Cheers Sevrin !

.....since the pc-cm is so BIG for its useable screen size it would have meant me having to work at a funny angle ...I,d end up with a stiff neck as well as a hunch back... " the bells , the bells ..they made me deaf you know !"...

The connection between an Amstrad and this monitor is RGB, so you are going to get quite a crisp picture.

Use it with confidence

I have seen a few of those amstrad monitors used as a cheap alternative in the past when a 108x etc was >£200...

But the picture quality was ABSOLUTE SHITE, if you only play a few games, then it's fine, I've seen a better display through the composite out a VCR and into a good TV...

But if you try displaying a 640x256 workbench screen with topaz/8 it's difficult to distinguish between some characters (n-m, 8-0-Q-O, 1-i-l, etc.) and doing any serious work will totaly f*ck up your eyes...
