Need a Buster Chip! Yellow screen problem on my a4k
Hey guys
If anyone has a Buster chip for a3k, a4k (rev doesnt matter) as a replacement chip. I'm willing to buy or trade. My friend gave me an a4k and removed the buster 11 - i recently installed one and now I get a light grey screen like its going to boot and then yellow (not a chip ram error as I it worked 100% before) i even removed all the simms and reseated the chip ram.... any help is appreciated. thanks |

Is Buster socketed?
If so remove socket and hard solder buster to Mobo. I had same problem recently, turned out to be socket. |

Perhaps replace the socket instead of soldering the chip directly.

If the problem is just bad contact the chip may be oxidized.
Sack it out, put on a lemon juice glass for half an hour, then wash the chip with a soft toothbrush under the tap. Reinsert after complete dried up and test again. |

Also of note is the power LED flickers rapidly before the yellow screen... |

Pffft... In english ??
I'm a french specialist : un écran vert sans Simm 2 Mo indiquerait que les composants s'occupant de la gestion de la chipram fonctionnent correctement ! |

Of course replacing Buster will not help on Fast RAM issues. The problem is related to Alice (Agnus replacement)!

I wansnt making fun of your english. Thats a phrase ppl say in america when someone talks to technical @ Ltc I dont think you read it right, and I told you on pm on aorg I appreciated you tested it but my reality is the machine worked 100% fine with the buster11, which I removed and the machine then sat until I got your buster 7. Now I get a yellow screen, so after years of working with amigas I deduced that I need to try another buster. this is standard tech procedures. I did also check the chip ram socketing and buster position and socketing. I cannot really diagnose fully until I change the buster again as its the only thing to change from when it was working fully. |

I don't think the A4000 ever shipped with a Rev-7 buster. I think it started at Rev. 9. So probably best to put a Rev.9 or 11 in it, and not a Rev. 7. Rev 7 was for the 3000 afaik. Darren |

Hi Darren!
Actually i've seen quite a lot of amiga 4000 rev b motherboards here in the usa with Rev 07! UPDATE: I pulled the buster 7 a nice amigan gave me out with a puller tool and discovered that it was missing one leg! Thats right, even though looking at it is some kind of optical illusion because the pins are so small! I counted them to make sure.. This probably explains why the yellow screen.. If anyone has a buster chip any rev 7 or higher that wants to sell it please let me know. Thank you |
