ClassicWB display problem

Ive just installed Bloodwychs ClassicWB no problems. But when I use the A4000 power config
the screen goes black then back to the desktop before finally booting up workbench.
If I try this in windowed mode it says it cannot display the selected screen mode because
I have chosen an rtg picasso96 display with a different colour depth to the desktop. Ive
updated the rtg library as it also suggested and both winuae and my desktop are set to 32bit
colour. Can anyone provide a solution? Preferably one that does not involve changing my desktop
display.

Sounds like your graphics card doesn't support RGB overlays.

While in the Workbench, change the screenmode (top left hand corner menu Settings -> Screenmode or DH0:Prefs/Screenmode) from 16bit to 32bit, then it will match your WinUAE and Windows settings.

This should allow you to run it in a window, perhaps prevent the switching.

Yep, I had the same issue when I was using a normal CRT monitor on my older PC.

The only way I managed to prevent it was to select a Workbench and WinUAE screenmode that matched exactly what I was running in Windows. So if your Windows resolution is 1024x768 32bit 75Hz, that's what you'll have to use in the WinUAE settings and Workbench.

To get games to use full screen in the higher resolutions, you can use the filter options if your card supports them.

Other things you could try:

The latest WinUAE (if you downloaded the ClassicWB UAE pack, it uses an older version):

Alternative packs (they should have the same problem, but if you want an RTG setup, these packs may be better for you):

I think im getting a bit out of my depth I have never even looked at the filters tab in Winuae.
Maybe I will just stick with the A1200 setup at least until santa gets me a new computer. Thanks
for all your help. ClassicWB works fine with all my favourite games except dungeon master 2. Are
there known problems with the whdload version of this game?

The filter tab is very easy to use and well worth experimenting with if your graphics card supports it.

I've just done some testing, and Dungeon Master 2 requires a registered version of WHDLoad so if you don't have a legitimate keyfile, it won't work.

Have you tried the non-JIT configs, like the A4000 games and A1200 Games? (assuming you're using the ClassicWB UAE version)

If it still doesn't work, I advise posting a thread in the WHDLoad forum and ask if others have the same issue.

Actually when the ftl logo appears there is a crackling sound distortion but the game does load
if you bear with it. Anyway thanks again and I will post on whdload forum.
