Magic Pockets Phone-In Game - Motormouth (TV Series 1988–1992)
[ Show youtube player ]
I'm sure people remember this but I wonder if the custom version used for the show will ever show up? |

I suppose that there's only one level, similar to the NTSC/game demo but shorter. It seems that the shots are different (stones, usually used by cavemen) and there's a timer so you can't get far.
Obviously the best game for a phone game |

Sure do! I couldn't believe it then when I finally realised I could get the game for the Amiga and play it at home! But back when I was a kid I was shit at playing it. Couldn't figure out the super jump using the whirlwind. Anyways I am much better at playing it, however it's a tough game. |

Motormouth was 'my era' as far as kids TV goes, so I remember these scenes in a way I don't for the use of Xenon (same developers, you'll notice) on its predecessor Get Fresh. Andy Crane later hosted CITV's videogames show Bad Influence, so perhaps the enthusiasm was genuine. Sadly a lot of programmes made by TVS are lost now (the rights paperwork got lost in a sale, so there was no incentive for anyone to keep them) so a lot of episodes are missing, almost none of the previous first two years of Motormouth survives. Unless someone from the Bitmap Brothers kept it, I doubt any of this original version survives.

It is a shame that so much vintage TV has been lost to time.
Especially when you consider we have digitally perfected wall to wall on demand crap, on a billion channels, that will always exist and never be watched! |

Yep, those old Dr Whos are the famous example but there's so much else. Documentaries and stuff as well as comedies and dramas. I'd expect any missing Magic Pockets content from Motormouth is probably about it as far as Amiga-related stuff.
Of course there are lost Amiga (and other system) games too, anything released in small numbers (as well as unreleased or incomplete stuff) might still be missing. Maybe someone has the last copy of some PD game on a deteriorating disk in their mum's loft somewhere? |

This is the most favorite game via phone of the time on German TV: "Superball" of the German private TV channel "Sat1"
[ Show youtube player ] They sometimes showed the Amiga 2000 they used for this, but not in this video. |

I assume that game has been lost? The player ball definitely gives it away as an Amiga game I think. On the Sky One show Games World there was a game called Cashdash. It is on the Amiga but I don't recognise it as another game? Alex Slater is the coder it seems https://oldhol.abime.net/hol_search....ef_artist=1487 [ Show youtube player ] @ 2:52 Last edited by Whitesnake; 30 May 2024 at 21:03. |

Wasn't there some controversy over that? I remember Bob Mills talking about the game they used had been stolen or modified and they knew who had done it, can anyone remember that or what the original issue was?
