TF1260 tips
Hi there, i was wondering if anyone could tell me a way of running my tf1260 faster than 50mhz? It seems that anything above results in crashs, freezes, black screens and the like. Its a rev5 with FPU

I think my TF1260 with Rev5 goes to 64mhz but that wasn't during this heatwave My Rev4 without FPU ran faster stable, perhaps the Rev5 isn't the best one for OCing |

Current firmware doesn't like rev5s or rev1s being overclocked. Have a look on the Exxos forum for info on it.

when CPU speed is run it says 1000 as the firmware. I purchased from ebay and the seller has been really helpful... just figured Id ask some Amiga people if they had any tips! my last 2 TF cards I purchased from you but for some reason when I tried to use Amibay to contact you it was down so I used ebay.

You have the most recent firmware 1000 on your TF1260 if that is what it tells you, obviously a CPU with FPU is preferred, but some of the LC 68060s they can be overclocked to 100 mhz again this can be acheived when they are individually tested, just to add I never had much luck overclocking the rev5 68060 and others I think have had the same issue.

Thank you for the info - I think I will stick with this chip then for compatability with FPU software and lets be honest its not like a 50mhz 060 needs overclocking as its still magnitudes faster than my other classic machines (obviously not Pistorm Emu68 but thats not a classic chip) now to go play some games on it

hmm seems i spoke too soon - i am getting random crashes/lockups even at 50mhz, I have been advised it could be a low 5v line so have tried the rest of Amiga PSU's and the results are even worse with either the power light staying dim and nothing else or it gets part way into workbench before black screen. when this happens if I try a reset I get stuck on a white/light grey screen hard to tell.

Example: http://phase5.a1k.org/index.html You need a Rev 6 060 to get better overclocks. If you're still crashing after installing the 060 Lib's, try & get SnoopDos running & logging in the background. |

1200 Needs timing fixes. There is a cap or resistor that needs removed from the bottom of the board. E125 or C125 perhaps? Don't have the specific one off the top of my head.

Would the TF1260 suffer from this? I know it was an issue for Apollo 1240/1260 as well as ACA 12xx boards. |

It's rarely an issue, but when it is, it affects any cards with tight chipset timings (fast chip RAM access speeds for example). The TF, Apollo and ACA cards all fall into this category, as well as some newer RAM cards.

Could it also be a Kickstart ROM issue? Op hasn’t mention what they are using. Not to kick up 3.2 or 3.2.1 bashing here, but you never know Mang!
