Amiga 2000 autoconfig prob
Hi
I have following problem. When i put my ide at-bus 2008 card, in my Amiga 2000, the bootmenu of my a2630 accelerator card, show my this message, on the screen: Autoconfigure out of memory space. Without the at-bus, the amiga still works. The card works great, in an other Amiga 2000, with the same config. config: Amiga 2000 Rev 4.4 A2360 Kick 3.1 2 Floppys Either, i have no idea waths going on. |

I believe the message is most likely due to having more autoconfig memory installed than the Amiga 2000 can address, so it is complaining that it has run out of address space to allow the machine to access it all. If you have a typical A2630, it most likely has 2 MB of ram on it, and if your A2008 card has 8 MB, then I think you've exceeded the max. One way around this is simply to set the jumpers on the A2008 to tell it that it only has 6 MB installed, even though it actually has 8 MB. According to the info I've dug up, if your A2008 has 8 MB then all 16 zip sockets on the board are populated. If that is the case, then jumpers JMS0 and JMS1 on the board are both closed. Removing jumper JMS0 will tell the board it has only 6 MB of ram, and that should cause the message to go away on the next reboot. In Workbench, you should still have roughly 8 MB of ram though. If you don't change the jumpers, I think the Amiga will still run fine, but it still won't be able to access more than the first 8 MB of ram, and it will still whine about it when you reboot.

I forgot something to write.
When the 2008 in my Amiga is, the Amiga doesnt start, he show me, only the bootmenu. And my 2008 has no ram, but my 2360 has 4 mb. |

Interesting. The only other possibility that I can think of is that because of the way the jumpers are set on the 2008, the system may think that the board has 8 MB on it, but if that were the case then I would expect you to get the same error on both machines. If you want to completely eliminate that as a possibility though, you might check to make sure that there is a jumper on JMOFF. That should totally disconnect the memory (though there isn't any there anyway).
I don't have a 2008 myself, but I looked at the manual on the web for the jumper info. However I do have an A2630 and I get the same message that you do when I boot. In my case, the message is due to having 2 MB on the A2630 and 8 MB on other boards, but the machine runs just fine. The error message has never prevented me from being able to boot up. If JMOFF is jumpered and you still get the message then I'm afraid I'm stumped. Maybe somebody else here might have an idea what the problem is. |
