Which A1200 rev and which acc...

I've ended up with a small pile of A1200 gear, and I want to keep just 1 simple machine.

I've got a rev 1B and a rev 1D4 motherboard A1200 (and another I've not checked yet).

I've also got a Microbotics 1230XA acc (Inc fpu,50mhz,4meg).
And a blizzard IV 1230 (Inc fpu,50mhz,32meg,scsi)

I need to check everything works but was wondering what difference the MB revisions make - if any.

Also - apart from SCSI, why is the bliZzard regarded superior? (ram can be swapped).

I just want 1 A1200 with 030. Will sell the rest.

Go with the ID4. It was the winner in my Which 1200 motherboard is best? poll.

Blizzard 1230. There is almost universal agreement that it is the most compatible and reliable 68030 accelerator ever made. You can't go wrong.

Thanks for the quick response - seems to clear up those questions!

Anyone know what the Microbotics 1230XA is worth (with or without a A1200)?

Once I've cleared some space and given them a spring clean I'll look into some mods...

The MX1230XA is an excellent accelerator, too. Just don't have the SCSI nor blizzkick support. It can have 128Mb RAM plugged in.

The id4 and blizzard get my vote too, if you get the scsi kit for the blizzard that can take an extra 128mb of ram.....256mb in total.

What can you do with 256meg that you can't with 32, or what would it help with?

Not much realy...i have never used over 10mb personaly, but you need it of your going to do more demanding tasks like image editing etc.
I'm just saying the option is there if you need it.
Besides that the blizz mkIV is one of the most stable, dependable accelerators out there.

Interesting about the memory.... Amazing you can add so much, really...

Thanks for all the replies, looks like i'll keep the blizzard and put the SCSI to good use, and sell on the rest.

Run the WHDLOAD CD32 install of Beneath a Steel Sky with speech and no pause skip enabled

It's the only thing so far that I've found that uses more than 32mb.

Interesting thanks... I was thinking of hooking up a cdrom - how easy is it for A1200's to run cd32 cdroms? And how many cd32 games have been whdloaded?

No problem. Going to try and test the boards and 030's over the next week then look at selling...

Ok, Done some quick tests on the A1200 and the accelerators...

everything seems to boot up fine (I'm booting from floppy to wb3.0)

systemconfig reports the amiga is running a 030 with FPU, so looks like the accelerator works fine. No extra memory (4MB) is reported, but apparantly this is because I have 3.0 roms not 3.1, so I need to run a program to add the memory to workbench. (Seem to be missing this utility at the moment).

My old amiga experience was an a500 with GVP HD years ago, with WB1.3 - so all my knowledge seems rather out of date for getting a (scsi) hd up and running - we shall see!

If you are taklking about the Microbotics, yes, you need this:
http://aminet.net/package/driver/other/AutoXA

The Blizzard should be autoconfig anyway if I am not wrong.

Awesome, thats the one. Thanks.

Yep, the blizzard ram autoconfigs fine on 3.0 roms.

Anyone got any selling tips, I see there is a Marketplace here and there is Amibay (I've never used either) - and of course ebay (which I've used loads and have a good seller rating). I have 2x working A1200's and 1x Microbotics 1230 XA to sell.

Should I sell one 1200 with the accelerator, or seperate?

Akira - you mentioned you might be intersted in the XA, I'm not really sure what is worth if I am honest - can't see one sold recently anywhere (although the blizzards seem quite popular). I've not read up on the selling rules on this forum either...
