Solarmun's HDMI mod

This is my first post so hi - and please go gentle on me

I own an A600 which has ben powered up for 25 years, but recently had my passion for these machine piqued when I came across a few articles. I've been lurking for a while and I'm interested in modding my A600 so that it outputs an HDMI signal.

I've watched a couple Jan Beta videos and have read a few articles - a few of which mention ordering your own boards. So I came across Solarmon's github page which the Gerber files. I am a compete newbie so took the plunge and ordered my first custom board from pcbway.

https://github.com/solarmon/RGBtoHDM...e-plcc-adapter

If I understand correctly the pi zero which I will buy plugs straight onto this board which sits on the Denise chip? The reason I ask if a few other I looked at seem to require an adapter between the pi and the chip which sits on the Denise: for example:

https://www.pcbway.com/project/share..._RGB2HDMI.html

I am hoping that the option does not require the interface. Also I note that in the Jan Beta video he has to run an additional ribbon cable from to the adapter before plugging the pi.

Solarmon's solution looks far more elegant, or am I missing something crucial?

Apologies if any of the above is obvious!

Not sure but ithink the Janbeta version sits on top of the denise chip and wil interfere with any other expansions that ay sit on the CPU.The boards on solarmons page do not seem to have any A600 versions of RGB2hdmi so be carefulwhat you order, (i could be blind).the denise on the A600 is square and a500 is DIP

The description for the board I ordered says:

"This is for the Amiga A600 Denise ECS chip. However, the RGBtoHDMI solution only supports OCS modes, not ECS modes:"

Hopefully Solarmon is lurking and can confirm

ahhh, k

I see it now, this will prevent you from using any form of accelerator in your a600 as it will block the CPU so if you dont want to use any accel then this is fine. There are other options that do not block the CPU

If you use the PLCC breakout then it won’t interfere with any accelerators. I have one in my 600 and the CPU mounted fast ram board flies over the top of it.

I cannot say anything specific about Solarmon's board but in My A600 with an ACA620 in it, I used an A600 RGB2HDMI convertor that you can find on ebay with the keywords "Amiga 600 RGBtoHDMI adapter accelerator card compatible" and the seller is in France.

The Denise adapter is quite flat and doesn't inhibit the accelerator - provided you are able to remove the RF modulator - the HDMI slot/switch will occupy that case exit and the board will sit on top of that.

The main thing I would suggest is that the recommended screw sizes might need be double checked - in my case at least I found that I needed to get some of them half a mm wider - than listed - it seemed that the holes in the 3D printed part were a little large.

This is just the PLCC Denise adapter/hat. It will require the original c0ppperdragon RGBtoHDMI small board - as per:

https://github.com/c0pperdragon/Amig...dapter-variant

I had designed a similar PLCC Denise adapter/hat, but never released it.

My first RGBtoHDMI board for the A600 (https://github.com/solarmon/RGBtoHDM...e-plcc-adapter) just combines both PLCC Denise adapter/hat and the RGBtoHDMI board.

However, as discussed in PM, the recommended RGBtoHDMI solution for an A600 is a separate CPLD based RGBtoHDMI board (based on the LinuxJedi design) and low profile PLCC Denise adapter/hat:
