Treasure Hunt! Find the largest Amiga game manual
Just got my lattest batch of Amiga games and I nearly did my self a injury when I picked up Tornado. The box contains a massive 334 page manual! And this is no tiny paperback sized manual, it is almost as big as the (standard large) game box!
So this got me thinking, what GAME has the largest manual? |

Maybe A320 Airbus Vol. 2, the box contains:
German manual: 175 pages English manual: 190 pages ILS Aproach Charts: 300 pages (all 3 almost the full box size) 3 very large original flight maps |

So for CAPS, this will mean one separate CD for this game then! |

I have A320 Airbus (the first one), and I was completely shocked by the size of it. I am not at home at the moment, so I can't tell you how big it is, but I am sure it must be over 300 pages. It makes the whole (large) box weigh a ton. All for a one-disk game.
I also think there are a couple of games that came with books. I forget which ones now though. Midwinter II has a huge manual. Another annoying one is a football game that comes with a book of stats/results/etc. Its a small book, but very thick with around 200 pages. It uses it for a manual lookup. Sheesh... Not even interesting content. These are going to have to wait a while. Maybe when we retire. |

I am teasing Fiath in the CAPS forum, that he has to download some of these on his 56k modem.
Fiath, as I said, Super Space Invaders is waiting for you now at 86MB. my next project is "Das Boot" disks and manuals. 80 pages for that one. How many times has it melted Fiath ? |

Heh. Actually, since I am away from home it is all clocking up. I am going to have to tie up the phone for weeks by the looks of it!
To put it into perspective. If I leave it on all night (in reality about 6-7 hours) I get about 120 Mb. |

Looks like we may have a winner, any advance on the massive A320?
Midwinter II has a large manual (as do all Microprose games, defo got value for money when u bought one of those!) but not on the scale of these flight sims. |

I can't top that, though if the German and English manuals are both just different translations of the same manual then counting the size of both may not make a great deal of sense, other than to give a sense of the bulk of the packaged game.
The largest manuals that I personally have for any Amiga game would probably be the Lost Treasures of Infocom manual and the Lost Treasures of Infocom Hint Book that came with it. Together they add up to just over 600 pages. Other than that, the largest manuals I've gotten with Amiga games were the Cybertank Engineer's Handbook from Omega at about 300 pages, and the manual from Battlehawks 1942, which is probably just a bit under that size. |

Where in the World is Carmen Sandiago came with this big almanac that was practically required to get anywhere in the game. It was 928 pages.
