Sega rolling in the money

Just an interesting piece of news!

With Nintendo making far less-than-usual profits and Sony and Microsoft showing losses, it’s nice to see Sega - the ones who dropped out of the console market - making some earnings. Today, Sega Sammy has reported a profit of $95.5 million, and total sales of $986.6 million - just one Sonic platformer short of breaking the billion mark. Sammy (let’s not forget the other half of the company) also showed profits from its pachinko machines - all in all, 153,000 pachinko machines and 1.86 million units of software. Keep on rocking, Sonic, keep on rocking.

Good news indeed! Altho, I doubt they'll have a console in the new future, since they got rid of their hardware division.

Maybe in a very, very distant future. I'ts nice to see them making profit and keeping Sonic alive.

The still have enormous debt from the console days don't they?
Sony must be showing losses on the whole company, but the ps2 division should be raking in the cash (and has been for a while).

This isn't related to videogaming. Sega Sammy makes gambling machines.

I don't think theres room for another console on the market the way it is, but I would like to see Sega continue to support the Dreamcast as a retro, collectors machine, and make some totally unique games for it.

And the Wonderboy RPG/adventure games, I think they should bring back those games or the games they're based on.

This is the kind of crap I have come to love.

Ah well, at least some people had something interesting to say about this thread and the games related content.

Even though I doubt SEGA will ever get back to the console market (for good memory of the greatest new-generation console ever made, the Dreamcast), it's nice to hear that. They don't do just gambling machines, they still crowd the Arcades with useless but fun flashy games.
Hail to sega :P
