Zool 2 PC CD DOS version

I Have been looking for this game for some time because I'm almost sure the CD version of zool 2 exists and features music+sfx during game
in the web basically you will found a floppy cracked version of Zool 2 without music, only SFX

then I just found a rare CD image in old-games.ru

but such CD image is small and do not contain audio tracks
even it doesn't work in DOS box or PCEM , I instaled the game but it crash ( black screen)

it seems there is some kind of copy protection on the CD or another strange thing happens

can anyone take a look on this?

I can upload the CD image to the zone if anyone want to try this

thanks

The game works fine in dosbox. No audio tracks. Ingame you have the choice of music or sfx.

There is no download link at old-games.ru

But I checked it with exodos lite https://www.retro-exo.com/exodos.html

Game works fine with ingame music or sfx

Also 5,000 Cycles is the sweet spot. Anything higher and you get tearing in the background

The DOS CD version from old-games_ru works fine on 86Box. It is identical to DOS floppy version except it includes same animated intro as in CD32 version.

then I do not understand why there is a CD version if not features cdda audio tracks
just for garbage 3d anims?

also I do not understand why in the PC version you must choice sfx or music, but not both
I don't think the soundblaster had the 4 audio channels limitation of the Amiga sound chip

Shovelware is term for software that got a CD release without any feature (except that intro that already existed) that would warrant such a release. It's just a way to make more money without any effort by getting people to get the game on CD expecting for example CD audio.

Yep. Somebody made a post about how many CD32 games didn't use any CD enhancements a while back and it was more than 50%.

50 % ?
Id say 99% of the CD32 titles are shovelware

the only exception which comes to my mind is Fire+ICE CD32 which enhances GFX to AGA and add fantastic CD music tracks

Other CD32 games which also add CD tracks to replace music on chip : they are not worth it since the music is more or less the same crap or even worst

Dumped 2 version back in the day. They don't feature audio tracks. http://redump.org/disc/17972/ The CD32 version however does.

It's the CD32 intro:

An FLI file is a movie or animation created by Autodesk animation software, such as Animator Pro. FLI files use lossless compression, which reduces the file size but maintains the original quality.
