Cheers! I'm going to have fun checking this out.
![]() Have you noticed how much the graphical style differs between final release and the screenshot shown in Amiga Power issue 18 two years later? The latter is more cartoony akin to Empire Soccer. Can't decide if that's a mistake or not. The brief reason for sidelining publication in the UK is alluded to as if there was some controversy over the player of the year and this should be obvious to the reader. Probably a reference to Maradona being awarded the trophy in 1986. Even so, would people really shun the game over that? |

Good to see finally released but man it is a but pants isn't it?
No sound fx (even when score a goal) horrible sound when a player slides, a useless scanner too. Defo no KO2 But good to see it out there without a doubt. As others commented, remember seeing it advertised and always wanting it! |

Sure, as an 8bit game it was probably OK, but the Amiga version was converted as if there wasn't already much better competition. Gary Bracey probably assumed the developers would convert the basics of the 8bit versions, but expand the actual football part to better suit the machine it was on, and when he saw it, he probably thought (wisely), that there was much better competition and im assuming Kick Off 2 was already released by then, and nixed the game. Kick off 1 and 2 were much larger screens, fast and smooth.....Adidas Championship Football was none of those things. I'm happy I was the guy to crack and release it, but I would have been happier if the game was Kick Off 2/Sensi quality |

Yeah, the reason why it was canned is quite obvious. Still it's great that a version of the game exists and now has been preserved
