Archon 100%

Is there's an 100% cracked version of Archon? (1st)

There's a 100% UNcracked version, that's as original as it can be (SPS). Does that help?
What's wrong with the available cracks?

Besides the protection, it seems that the game doesn't run too good on kick 1.3 IIRC

I remember it as a tough whdload fix because of the protection AND the kick 1.3 incompatibility at some point.

It's made for Kick v1.1/1.2.

this .ipf seems working also with other kickstarts/configurations :

SPS/Archon - The Light and the Dark (1989)(Electronic Arts)[compilation The Archon Collection][2779]

are Galahad, Stingray, Ross or any other crack elders here around to better check?

In the zone......


Guessing this is a different protection from the first version, and this one appears to work on all Kickstarts as well.

Copy protection, was....... well, if it didn't have all the labels so it could be perfectly resourced, it might have been quite competent!!

Seems to work fine. Any problems, yell in my general direction.

In my configuration I've some white color added when the bobs are moving, on, the mouse pointer and some weapons. Not sure why, I tried without cache, original chipset but it still there.

The only thing changed is the system-configuration file, could that affect the palette?

Other than that, nothing I did could affect the graphics.

is there a similar version of Adept? Didn't knew a standard disk version (files) existed that worked on all OSes.

I dunno, see if the file SCX-ARCHONII-ADEPT.ADF is relevant

So it seems the updated compilation versions of Archon and Archon II are both revised, working on all kickstarts, so now both games are cracked and should work no problems.

the first new adf is perfect, very interesting how it 'adapts' to the vary configurations;
tested on 500, 500+ and 1200 (one match each)

was trying the second (ipf), and yes, seems the same

so, a decent copy protection, finally ?

No it was rubbish.

Same crack applied to Archon II, first one took 15 minutes to crack, made easier by the fact all the labels were still in the code so all the important stuff resourced perfectly, very easy to follow what was going on in the code and then knock out the protection and the attempts later on to recheck two more times.

Second game took 2 minutes to apply the 3 patches needed, and it worked first time.

I'm guessing the earlier ones were considerably harder than this, but these updated versions took no effort at all.

well, at least we have two great classic preserved in adf

also, bizarre loading, constantly jumping back to tracks 01 and 05 iirc

If I copied the files under Dopus I got an checksum error on block 11 normal? file is c:datafile

Normal for both games, its where the location of the protection track resides.

Happens when you try copy from either game.

I thought it was protection but good to know it is, do you think that reading the tracks and saving them to a file will work?

The "file" is fake. It has a custom sector loading format once the game starts.

I've ripped both games in an attempt to fit on one disk and its currently using AmigaDOS file loading and the custom format is ripped and stored in memory.

A few bugs to iron out, but assuming enough memory, will also install on hard drive
