loading issue

Hi all-

I'm new to Amiga emulators, so apologies if i ask some simple / dumb questions. Don't be too harsh on me.

I've downloaded FS-UAE and have it installed. I'm running on Win7 Pro 64 bit. I seem to have a problem and can't figure out the problem. I was trying to play a couple of my old favorite games (Archon and ArcticFox).

I'm going for a basic Amiga 500 emulation, i put the game .adf in the floppy drive, and start 'er up. It looks promising at first- i see the Electronic Arts logo and the sounds of the floppy as it loads. But then it seems to "crash". The emulator itself doesn't crash, but either the game gives an error and restarts (Archon) or it's frozen on the EA screen (ArcticFox).

So i don't know if this means that i have a bad configuration or what. I've tried several combinations but haven't found one that works yet.

Any thoughts as to what i'm doing wrong and how to fix it?

Archon require Kickstart 1.2

Hi-
So i just tried Kickstart 1.2 as the kickstart rom, but i get the same issue. I also tried Kickstart 1.0, and 1.1 and they didn't help either.

For what it's worth, i get the exact same issue in WinUAE.

Try to use 512KB of Chip RAM only.

OK, so i'm using Kickstart v1.2 rev 33.180. I've enabled Chip RAM to 512KB. I'm using the Amiga 1000, and i've got Archon.adf in the floppy drive.

Still gives me that same crash dagnabbit.

archon.adf? Try Archon & One on One & Archon II (19xx)(PHR-Crew) from EAB server or other site.

Well, i shortened the name. Not sure where i got it- LemonAmiga perhaps. But i'll try to find the other version as you suggest and see if that helps.

OK, found the new version and it works fine. Now to figure out the issue with ArcticFox.

Try same configuration with Arctic Fox as both games are from early Amiga times. I don't know this game as I was too young for complicated gameplay.

Yeah, ArcticFox was one of the early games. I've missed it. So i've tried the same configuration, only swapping out the .adf. Sadly, it still gets stuck- doesn't crash, just stops loading.

Only third one is good dump but you need to select HD floppy disk instead of DD in emulator options. You may need manual if there is copy protection code.

Ah, clearly i will need to explore every folder. The quality of files appears to be better than others.
