GameTap

Has anyone actually subscribed to this service, for retrogaming or otherwise?

I see little point in it, since I already have all the games I could ever want / need, or even play in one lifetime.

Is this not just more corporate control / monitoring?

I would be interested in reading the views of the hardcore gamers here...

Why should anybody pay for these games when not buying them from the legal copyright holder? It's just a moneymaking site with retro games, which sucks real bad! I don't think they have the permission from all the companies to offer their 'service' for money.
My advice : Stay away from this crap!

Save your advice for the ignorant. I'm not even considering signing up.

They don't just have oldskool retrogames, tho'... they host some fine classics like Deus Ex, Fallout etc. But why play them online, when I have the originals?

Some of the games they host are "ads" for up-and-coming ones: sequels, remakes and so on.

The whole idea I find repugnant, but I want to read if others agree / disagree.

I don't like it. I prefer to 'own' my games, not rent them.

It was meant that way
I had a quick look at the site and their 'free' game was Metal Slug 2, which you could download. I haven't done so, but I think it will be some kind of a emulator pack with the game. So they simply offer anything to earn money I guess...

@Retro
It's a shame that these 'services' keep popping up. It's the same with sites that offer 'high quality downloads' of free-/shareware for money...
