Love Hippoplayer, have used it many hours during the years.. However, do I dare to wish for a Windows-version, in this forum?

In my own head cannon, i always thought/imagined VLC was a windows successor of HippoPlayer, esp as it plays amiga mods/etc.

Doesnt work for me spoUP..

i get a message.. browser security prevents automatic playback without any user input happening first.. Click "OK" or press "return" to continue..

I click the OK button and nothing happens.

Nothing?
You’re not able to load a tune in hippoplayer and play it?
What browser/platform?

v2.57 available on aminet:
A lot of fixes this time

EDIT: Forgot to mention in the readme that also loading files with "XFDmaster library" enabled should work, this didn't in the previous version.

Thank you so much for the latest version. It fixes the HIDE bugs I had when loading before the Amiga Games Selector on 3.2
The one thing it doesn't do anymore is select a random module when loading a "HiPPrg" list of modules... I have the random mode set in the hippo preferences, but when a modules list is loaded with:

HIP HIDE modules.list

It always plays the first module in the list.... the list looks like this:

HiPPrg

AGS:Songs/Lotus2.mod
AGS:Songs/ChuckRock.mod
AGS:Songs/MontyMole.mod
AGS:Songs/Lotus3.mod

It will always play Lotus2.mod on startup...

Hi Koobo and thanks for this new version!

Impulse Tracker files work great now!

I have some issues though with Midi, IT/ML, and MPx files:
  • Midi: loading a Midi file produces MuForce hits and then crashes my Amiga. I can't save the hits because my Amiga is "frozen" unfortunately
  • ML: adding a ML and a IT file and playing them one after the other crashes my Amiga with no MuForce hit that I could see.
  • MPx: playing MP2 or MP3 files causes a MuForce hit, I attach the hits.

Cheers!

Random mode works if the list is loaded with PRGM command line switch like this:

hip HIDE PRGM songs.list

If I ommit PRGM then random mode doesn't work, it plays the first module in the list always.

Nice find! And a clever work around also It seems the problem you described is also apparent already in the previous version. I will investigate.

Maybe you should go about it the other way ... and ask the authors of some obscure browser to support a page and not the author of the page to support every build of every browser out there...

first there was firefox,, which was forked into palemoon due to firefox deciding to remove the code for the old addons,, which in turn made all the people who wrote those addons having to rewrite their code for the new way..
Hence palemoon.. 100% compatible with the addons.. until that is they too decided to go change..
Hence NEWMOON.. written for xp compatability + addons..

^just for information..
Firefox works with the site.. i only use firefox portable for use with certain sites as they dont work with newmoon for some unknown reason..
other sites..
facebook.. unable to actually write a reply.. on my timeline..
pluto.tv unable to watch anything..due to the drm codec used by all online tv stations..
my5, more4 etc.. bbc iplayer..
its not a bigdeal. if i want to visit that site i'll use firefox..
all i said was it didnt work with it..
anyone who uses newmoon.. will now know to use firefox.
I use newmoon 98% of the time.. because of the addons.. which i can't find replacements for.

There seems to be a bug in Hippo Player where it doesn't display last entries depending on the size of the window (it seems it is in all lists, not just "Shared Lists" view):

This are the last entries I see when i have my window sized like this (my default window size):

The last entry I see is "Koobo - Favs"

If I make the window bigger then I can see the last entries properly:

Alrighty, I can reproduce this. Using the keyboard to scroll the list works, the problem is with mouse+slider (which I personally never use ).

Midi: Hippo doesn't support midi, so maybe this is identified as something that is supported and then this go badly. Please provide the badly behaving file.

ML+IT: Can you provide these exact files (or urls) so I can try to reproduce.

MPx: I can't reproduce this. Based on the provided hit txt this is a DOS library call that receives a garbage file handle.
