Super League 2023: Round 2 - Civilization

Round Ends: 23:59 (UK Time) on Saturday 18th February 2023

Rules:
Get the best score you can, during this round.
Post screenshots of your score in this thread, and write the score nearby.
Scores to be achieved without save-states, trainers, passwords, and cheats.
No continues or infinite score leeching.
Finish the game and post a screenshot of the end for the completion star.

Special Rule:
Select Earth mode from the titles, any tribe, difficulty level Warlord, and 7 CPU tribes
Press F9 and take a screenshot at (or before) 1200 AD. 20 Points removed per 10 years over.
Saving is allowed. After saving shut down the Amiga/emulator and only load it once to continue in your next session.

The latest version (V8.55e.1) is the AGA version, so this has been linked in the first post. The non AGA version can also be used. If you have issues with the disks, do let us know.

You can skip the intro by pressing ESC during the animations.

The completion star will go to anyone who can beat all 7 tribes. If you do; show your final score and also your % score to get the star.

For newbies who want to know how to understand the basics, I made a Starters Guide. It helps if you have the game on the screen while reading it. I've tried not to give away any gameplay spoilers, and this is like a manual for newbies.

Saving is now enabled. It takes anywhere between 2 hours and 5 hours to reach 1200AD, and so I've enabled saving, as the game time is too long.

You cant use saves to fix a bad game, but you can use them to practice if you want.

Haven't tried to play Amiga version of Civilization properly, although I own boxed original. So here's first effort, hopefully I have time to submit better score later in the competition

Note: Saving allowed doesn't mean you're allowed to load a saved game more than once.

When you save it means you have to shut down your Amiga/emulator then and only may reload your saved game to continue playing in your next session!
If you then have some bad luck in this session you're not allowed to reload your previously saved game again.

Thanks for taking part. Civ is a strange game to play in the competition, but I'm sure those who want to dip their toe in would find it enjoyable.

Thank you El_pasi for playing with us.! Yes the rules can make or break a round, and this time I was lucky in that I'm good with strategy games. If we had played random islands, I dont think it would have been a good round, but it is lucky the game not only offers a fixed map, but also a bonus score for speed running it !

Lemon Amiga seemed to have a great time with it, and it's a shame you EAB guys missed out on all the fun.

The next round is Pinball, so let's see a few more players.

This round is over

After some in-trepidation, a very good round, and I really enjoyed it for a nice change of pace.

Our score veteran John won in the end, followed closely by a very determined pastquale, and then third on the podium goes to another strong performer Juanma.

On to more familiar territory now as we pull back the plunger and get ready for some more classic arcade action!
