Sociable Soccer Kickstarter by Jon Hare!
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...ociable-soccer
Just noticed this has launched, already have my pledge in ![]() Hopefully this will be a worthy successor to SWOS. 300K in 29 days might be tough going, i really hope they make it though! |

So instead of a Cannon Fodder worthy sequel, we get this? Sure it will bring in some fans, but it's not my cup of tea

No, sorry. I personally hate football and in this sequel even all the cuteness of original SS has gone. For me - not enough Amiga, not enough Sensible.
BTW: nice GODS poster there. |

It makes more sense than Cannon Fodder. Sensible Soccer still has a strong fan-/userbase. A reasonable choice from Jon.

Yeah this makes total sense. Sensi Soccer is the ONLY football game I come back to every now and then. I was even playing it last night.
I really like the Xbox 360 version though, let's see how this one pans out. |

If they can recapture the spirit of the Amiga version, and improve in other areas then why not??

I'm an absolute SWOS nut so I've pledged - but £300k is asking a helluva lot. Personally I don't think it will even reach £50k but it would be nice if this one got off the ground. The Dizzy Returns kickstarter was asking for similar money and that got nowhere near.

I think there are a lot more Sensi Soccer fans than there are Dizzy fans, but yea, it's a lot of dough and a short time frame, let's see what happens. I pledged, which I rarely do, but am interested to see how multiplayer works and also was caught by the option to choose a console as my platform for the final game, since I don't game on my computer.
Xbone/PS4 development costs alone are probably one of the causes this goal is so high. |

So 25 years later we will have the Kick Off vs Sensible (ok Sociable) Soccer all over again, hehehe!

As much as I like Sensi and Jon Hare I think it's a game of the 90's. Sure a lot of people will play it but I doubt many younger people will which is what will be needed to make it a success. And one problem I can foresee from here is how are they going to afford a license so they can use real player names? I doubt 300k would even scratch the surface of the cost of that.

Yeah I thought about the names, I am sure they will not bother with such a licence. I wouldn't care if they went and made them slightly different like other games have done in the past, actually makes it kinda funny.
Regarding younger players, if they depended on them to make this a success, they wouldn't be crowdfunding it. Obviously they are targeting us old farts who for nostalgia or other reasons, will back this one up and make it a reality. It will just depend on HOW MANY of us are out there and willing to fund this. |

I'm more of a KO fan than Sensi, but it looks pretty faithful mechanics wise.

there is no shame in liking and playing both games of course, nor is there shame in seeing a colleague from the golden days have a good idea and deciding to do the same to make a buck.

I want a sequel to stunt car racer. I don't care much for soccer games unless there's a chance for playing multi-player.

Someone forgot how to read
Hey Adrian Browne, I want a Porsche 911 1993 while we're at it! How about that? ![]() Campaign is a little over 19k and first update was posted, talking about game modes. Here's a funny sketch by Hare himself |
